The recapping business should be put out of business. Caps are killers in hot climates, but can even come apart in cold climates. Recaps should not be allowed on vehicles involved in interstate commerce. But I doubt we will ever see it happen. To many palms ..... ......, Oh, don't think I can say that.
As a former "over the road" driver, I concur with you on recraps! They should be outlawed!

Are you serious? Or do you sell tires for a living? The problem isn't caps, it's stupidity...overloading, underinflation, not checking tires & driving on a flat, running tires full of nails & scuffs, running 85MPH in Texas in August 5000lbs over on the tandems.
My bus runs caps, my F-350 runs caps, my wife's Jeep will when it needs tires (this fall, probably), my friend just ordered a set for his F-250. There is nothing wrong with retreads.

I have been driving a truck for about 13 years, i don't like recaps, BUT, a virgin tire will blow just like a cap, the company I work for runs caps on the trailers and virgins on the tractor when you see a set of duals come off a trailer together, the bearings have failed in the hub, and as for the fellow saying that you don't feel the tire blow , that is BULL you feel it and here it loaded or empty.
