I have to say, after spending 4 days in Bethpage campground I am un-easy with some of the fellow campers that were there. I have been camping with dogs for 15 years and our entire family is trained to keep a look out and pick up after they are done. There were two different campers on the same road as us that watched their dogs do their business on empty campsites and just walk away without cleaning up after them. That makes the rest of us that really care look bad also. This is just a rant, and I feel bettr now !

If I knew who's dog poop was left, it would end up at his/her front door.

I hear you. We take our little dog out to "go" on a leash and scoop up after him right then and there. It comes right back to some people not having manners or any consideration for others anymore.

There was 2 piles on our campsite this past weekend. I felt lucky I saw it before anyones shoes did. Our neighbor left there dog out barking a good part of the weekend. I prefer to ignore things I don't care for, so the guilty parties left without my two cents worth.

It's now ready to spend the winter in the garage for more mods. More neon, strobe lights, alarm, a pa system, maintance, and whatever else that comes along. This golf cart does wheelies and travels thru 7 inches of mud when need be. Two honda eu2000i gens twinned to supply the electrical power. Latest addition an 04 Honda Goldwing. I can't believe the number of people that don't even leash their dogs, let alone pick up after them. Just part of the dumbing down of America I guess. Sad

I always carry poop bags with me and if I see someone doing that, I'll walk over and hand them a bag saying something like "Out of bags? Here. use one of mine." I'm nice about it but once, in Salisbury Mass, I had someone say that they couldn't pick up the poop because it made them sick. I told them that people like them will eventually make dogs unwelcome and I didn't want that to happen. She refused to pick it up, saying she just couldn't so I picked it up and put it on her picnic table and walked away. I met a park ranger I knew a little later, told him about my encounter, and he went and told her that if she couldn't pick up after her dog, the dog would have to leave the park. They left the next morning.

Why didn't you confront the dog owner and ask why they are not cleaning up after their dog. And then hand them a plastic bag?

No excuse for not cleaning up after one's dog! We've got 2 dogs. No excuse! And yes, I've confronted other dog owners on many occasions. I usually get very mean and nasty looks, but they always take the bag, and usually walk away. But the point gets across!
