I have the same camper as you and dump at home all of the time. Do as you have been and use the geo method. Then when you dump use a clear 45 degree adapter on your sewer hose and keep on back flushing until you don't see any TP come out. I normally back fill the tank until it is almost full twice... extra water but I never use chemicals and don't have stink...

We are on a permanent site and use the GEO method. Our campground does not allow bleach so I don't use it. The only time I have a smell is if I (the kids) am not using enough water with each use. When that happens I empty fill it up again and repeat. If I am leaving after a weekend I will fill it up using the GEO method and let it sit till I get back then empty again. I also use a flashligh every now and then to make sure it is actually empty. Everytime I go into the bathroom I check to make sure there is adequate water in the bowl if there isn't I add some. Costs nothing for us to dump so the more water the better and it sure saves on any odours.
As for the sensors...I drove myself nuts last year and finally gave up. Occasionally they are accurate. As long as my battery says full I no longer worry about the others.
Don't worry you will get the hang of it.
