Can you tell me where the best places are to buy an rv?
I'm familiar with RVdirect.com (Forest river)
We have narrowed our search to either a Winnebago Adventurer/Itasca Suncruiser or Forest River Georgetown
It would be helpful if you could list where you found the best price...
Thanks!

Depends on where you live and what you know. For me it's best to buy from a private owner because GA charges no sales tax on private sales, I've got the ability to inspect myself and have a very well equipped shop to make repairs. This may not be your situation.

I'm in Michigan, but willing to travel anywhere East of the Mississippi for the right coach at the right price.
I know a local dealer would be idea, however, I know I'd pay more for it as well.
Could I buy one in GA, register and do the initial registration there?

use the internet to establish the best price on new then take the info to local dealer an negotiate. or just travel to wherever the dealer is and buy it there. You will find that what dealer you buy from will have minimal contact with you after the purchase. Just make sure that the manufacturer has a good network of authorized repair shops around the country. Chances are any repairs needed will take place far from home base. It is also important to have a factory service policy at the Mfr.
Also would use EBay or sites like RVNet to find and purchase a used vehicle. I shud help you establish a price range on your target vehicle.
Good luck

If I were in your shoes and looking at the brands you listed, I would look at rvtrader.com rvtraderonline and a few other internet sites. I would also look at PPL Motorhomes in Houston area.
You didn't ask but of the two choices you have listed - I would go with Winnebago/Itasca without a doubt. I would also get a good deal on a late model used unit and save a lot of money. As an example, I saw a Newmar Mountain Aire the other day for -- just pick up the notes.
In our home state, you can buy out of state and pay no tax, get a temporary tag and then pay your resident state taxes when you get your permanent tags when you get home.

Since you live in MI you will pay sales tax there when you register. You will be able to get a temp plate in GA, but that has nothing to do with sales tax in your home state.
The biggest concentrations of MHs for sale seem to be in FL and AZ.

Best place is where the RV is that you want
Really depends on what you want to do on your own. Individual seller is used, as is, set up own financial, extended warranty, and own fraud guard.
Dealer: PDI, new, warranty (varies) financial and other arrangements handled by dealer. Can vary by dealer both good, bad and indifferent but you are dealing with something regulated by a political entity and has a reputation you can check out.
Good luck.

For Winnebago try http://www.lichtsinn.com/. They are a LONG time dealer and are located about 5 miles from the plant!
