I store my MH in WI near an open field/woods and railroad track.
I have seen ground hogs around the MH. Has anyone had damage from
ground hogs or other large rodants?

Once they decide they like the "flavor" of ( ???)...they can ( as all rodents can) chew your coach to the ground. Anything rubber they seem to like??...but again they may not care for it. Best use some protection as compared to having to replace $$$ items

I think ground hogs are vegetarians, but porcupines have been known to chew on just about anything that has had any salt on it like rubber tires , power cords or wood. they ate the handles off our boat ores that had sweat on them.

In spite of the fact that some refute the suggestion about deterrants (such as moth balls), I'd be putting copious amounts of the stuff all around the MH. It can't hurt, and if it really works, then you did the right thing exactly.
I also found a little drug store with a small bottle of peppermint oil. It was $27.00 for about an ounce or less, but that stuff is reputed to also drive away mice and other rodents. I put just a dab on a couple of cotton balls and put them in my outside storage compartments (where I recently found a mouse nest - and trapped momma). That was a month ago, and I can still smell it when I stand outside near the closed compartment. Good long-lasting stuff and doesn't smell bad to me.
What ever makes my motorhome smell really icky to the rodents.

I'd try some Rat a Way. It works for rats & mice here in the woods. Might work on other rodents also. Gemplers.com
Rat-A-Way is the world's only patented and EPA registered granular rodent repellent. Dr. T's Rat-A-Way, Rat Repellent and Mice Repellent is approved for outdoor use and works to prevent rodents from entering a structure, eliminating the problems associated with rodent control once inside; accidental poisonings, secondary poisonings, decay and odor problems, and removal of rodents from glue boards or traps. Why treat rats and mice in your home when you can keep them out from the beginning?
Rat-A-Way Rat Repellent and Mice Repellant is the environmentally responsible way to deal with rodent controls and the problems they carry. Dr. T's Rat-A-Way Rat Repellent and Mice Repellant are applied by sprinkling the granules in a band around the perimeter of the structure that is to be protected and should be applied every two to three months. Dr. T's Rat-A-Way rodent control vapors have shown in research at the University of Alabama has proven to affect the rat and mouse sense of smell and raise the level of Carbon Dioxide in their blood, causing confusion and retreat.
Rat-A-Way Rat Repellent and Mice Repellent fits well inside an IPM (Integrated Pest Management) strategy and provides an alternative for poison sensitive areas. This rat repellent and mice repellent has shown in studies to deter the House Mouse, Black Rat and Norway Rat from infesting or damaging homes, businesses and equipment.
Rat-A-Way Rat Repellent and Mice Repellent minimize the need for poisons, baits, traps and other methods of rodent control. It can be used around homes, schools, warehouses, apartment buildings and garbage areas. Dr. T's Rat-A-Way Rat Repellent and Mice Repellent is not destroyed by normal rainfall and is reasonably priced for residential and commercial use for varmint control. NO CALIFORNIA OR NEW YORK SALES

I've had mine in storage yard going on 3 years. Suddenly during the last year everytime we make a trip we have had to clean up after some mice. I put poison in the storage areas as well as inside. Until last week I haven't been able to cure this little problem.
Last winter I replaced all the flooring in the MH. A combination of tile laminate and carpet. Pulled all furniture out so I would get a nice finished product.
Went on a short weekend trip last weekend. Got under bathroom sink to get a fresh roll of paper out and discovered a hole under the sink I had left unplugged. Nothing passing through the hole. Looked like maybe it had been drilled for a supply line that didn't end up taking that route. Plugged that baby full of coarse steel wool. Bet that mouse won't be knawing on that stuff too long. Also in the process of making some changes at home to accomodate the MH. Wife absolutely can not deal with mice in the MH.

Get some BARS bait, feed stores and our Ace hardware carry it.Put some on the frame around the engine and anything that looks suspect. They love it and it dries them up so there is no smell. Had my engine light come on. After decoding the computer I found they had chewed through the o2 sensor wire.We have wood rats here among the cedar trees. They also love windshield washer fluid. They have chewed through the hoses of my wife car, and my son found 6 in the washer bottle. The cap was loose and they got in there and drown. Only found out from the smell.

Yesterday I had to replace several wires in an almost inaccessible area. They were to my air horns, water pump, propane sensor and a couple of ground wires. These were squirrels. I put peppermint oil in the area and am going to find something else, just have to figure out what will work.

Well, Pat that would be a dumb thing to do. The bait is only applied when needed.
