We bought a brand new trailer last September. We cleaned it thouroughly over the past weekend and we found that the awning had pink stains on it. When we had our old Tent trailer, we had the same problem but thought that it was our water or the product we used to clean it. Since this trailer hasn't been washed with the same water 9new location) and it was the first time we washed it this year, I'm sorta of stumped not knowing what the heck is wrong? Is it the water, the products, the environment, etc... Does anyone know about this type of discoloration? What can I do to prevent the problem?!?

Thanks!

We too have some small pink stains on our awning. I always figured it to be some kind of mildew from rolling up the awning damp (morning condesation/dew) at times. We use a cleaner made for awnings which does a pretty good job of removing it. Hope this helps.

I to say it is a product of the environment, some form of mildew...

We had that, too. DH used AWESOME and cleaned it off...then rinsed VERY well. Never had it again...and made sure it was dry before rolling up.

Yes, the pink stains are mold (or mildew if you like). You should clean and dry thoroughly.

More like algae. The same kind of stains you might get in the tub or your water hose. I use soft scrub with bleach in the tub.

For the hoses, I mix some bleach and water in one of my 15 gallon water transport barrels and connect the hoses to it end to end. I lay it on its side and let the water and bleach flow through the hose and then cap the hose and let it set over night then flush the hoses real well.

I have not had problems with the awning yet. You might try a little dawn and a little bleach mixed in a 5 gallon bucket of water. Apply with a sponge mop and then rinse well.

Mild bleach solution, brush down both sides of awning, roll up, let sit for 30 min, un roll and hose off. Stains gone and awning clean!!
