If someone has Satalite TV at home and they want to use it when camping, what is needed? Just an extra reciever on the account and another dish? Do the companies allow this?

Directv allows it. I had them install a box in my MH. They didn't give me any problem with it.

You need a dish to take with you.
Either another rec. at $4.95 a month extra.

OR take the rec. from the house with you and use it.

I have an extra dish. I take the receiver from the house. Also need cable and a compass.

I heard something about if you have a extra receiver after a while of being turned off, it loses its connection to the account and you have to call in and get it turned back on as such. Is this correct?

Also, what if you own the extra receiver, do you have to pay the extra $4.95 a month?

The newer method, that works is to push the reset button next to the card. That usually gets my receiver going again. I used to have to call in everytime but not lately.

I have direct tv, I went on a 2 month trip last summer and when I returned home I had to call them to start up all 3 receivers as none of them worked. You need your own reciever, the 4.95 a month is a charge to use it.

We went on a 2 1/2 wk. trip last month and took our receiver with us. When we got home and hooked it back up, it worked just fine. We went clear to Niagara Falls, Canada with it. Had trouble getting the dish tuned in up there, though!

I've had this happen. Call 1-800-directv. Never talk to a person as it is done automatically and by computer. If you do get a person, they are from India, don't speak English and have no idea how to help you.
