We spent one night at the Jellystone in Luray a few weeks ago, on our way home from PA. I don't know if it was an off week or something or if it's normally like that, but the place was *crawling* with flies. It was absolutely plague like! The first time I opened the camper door 3 flew in and we weren't anywhere near the restaurant! Every time the door opened , we had to shoo 2 or 3 back out. They were literally walking all over us on the pavilion and in the snack bar. We took about 4 or 5 home to GA in the car! We didn't pay for the extras which ended up being smart, as it thundered most of the afternoon and kept the pools closed till just a half hour before closing time. For a place that caters to families, I think it's insane they charged another fee for the activities. $12/kid/day, or $16/kid/visit is a lot! For our visit, that would have pushed the cost to well over $100/night! And yes, our sewer connection was uphill from the camper too! I had originally pulled far into the pull through, so I could park the car behind later but the ranger pointed out the location of the sewer connection, at the other end of the forward sloping site, and I backed Way up!
To their credit, the staff was all very nice, the non-fancy pools were free to use and they even had a ranger at the exit on check out day offering to take our trash to the dumpster for us (probably to help keep the line moving but it did save time!)I guess like most chains, some locations are good, others are less so.

Shangri-la....we love it! They have a great play area for the kids, nice fishing pond, the pool was clean, the bathrooms have always been clean, the sites we've been were always nice.
Have fun!

We used to go to Jellystone Marion, but this year they seemed to become very proud of their park and jumped their prices for everything a good bit. It is a nice park but for the new prices they are charging, we felt that it was not that nice.
Love the video! We stayed at Jellystone in Marion when they first took it over from Hidden Valley. Nice owners and facilities were being maintianed appropriately. I was planning on going back this year with my 2 yr old. But the prices are way to high.
