Has anyone camped out on pacific coast hwy in ventura county right off the beach ?. Do you need reservations or some type of pass to park?. Do they have any amenities like fresh water or dump stations?
Drove by on my way back home from pismo and saw many rv's parked along the raod, looks like a nice getaway weekend spot.

Thanks,
Jason

You are probably talking about Rincon Parkway. They charge somewhere around $25. per night and there is no hookups of any kind. If you use your portable generator you have to keep it chained up and watched closely. crooks drive down the road and use bolt cutters to cut the chains and drive off with generators. The Rangers will usually stop and tell people that even chained up the Gen sets are not safe. But it is a nice beach arrea and we do go there as much as we can. The rangers do monitor the campsites closely. They carry a clipboard with all your info on it from when you signed in. Whatever time you arrived today you have to leave tommorrow. It is hard to get a site there unless you arrive on a Monday or Tuesday.

We stayed at Emma Wood just north of Ventura and enjoyed it there. During the week you may get by without a reservation but I'd try to make one just in case.
You park right along the beach. The sites aren't pretty and no hookups but at high tide you are just feet from the water.

There is a campground just north and another just south from the line of RV along the beach you saw. They both have full hookups if that’s what you are looking for. They are also not reserveable (FCFS). The cost is more around the $45 mark since they have hookups.
