We were going to be in Asheville NC for a few days in early June. I noticed that Handbasket posts from Asheville. He was not able to visit with us but he recommended a couple of camp grounds.
We stayed at Mama Gertie's in Swannanoa (to the East) See http://mamagerties.com/
It was gorgeous. Delightful in every way - clean, pleasant staff, etc. Only problems for us out of shape coastlanders was the hills. We give it our highest recommendation. They have usually been full, but with gas prices and the economy they had spaces available.
I tried to post from there but there must have been a incompatibility between the WiFi and this forum. I forgot to send the message when we got home.
****** Now we are going from coastal North Carolina to the UP (Upper Peninsula of Michigan). We are trying to get out of the heat. Anybody have must see, must camp destinations there or en route?
Enjoy Mama Gertie's and thanks for your suggestions.

The Hocking Hills area in SE Ohio where we had the B5 Rally would be a good stop at the private Scenic View Campground or at the state park.
Before you get to Michigan Pokagon State Park in Indiana is nice. It is located near the intersection of I-69 and I-80 in NE Indiana.
