Hi All. Just a quick warning about overnighting on certain streets in Burnaby. We stayed overnight on the edge of a quiet road where a couple of other RV units had spent numerous nights. The next morning the police came knocking and informed us that an RV park close to the street had registered a complaint. We informed the officer that we had arrived late into the night (something like 1:00 am). The RV park had apparently told the police that we had been staying there for several nights. We informed the police that the statement was incorrect and we could prove it via receipts - we had stayed in Whistler and at the noted RV park in the previous week. It was all good with the police - we had a nice chat and she apologized twice for waking us up. It was not all good with the RV park - I called to inform them of the incorrect statement that we had been staying on the street for several nights. She said we should consider ourselves lucky because the police had told them that they would be giving us a citation. When I told her that it was all good with the police because we had campground receipts for the previous nights, we were told to never come back to the RV park even though I informed her that we had just spent four nights there the previous week and patronized the place on an annual basis for over 4 years!!! The warning here is to be careful when overnighting in the vicinity of this rv park - they will make false accusations.
It is rather unfortunate that a number of RV parks cause some people to make the decision to NEVER use a park again. They are causing their petty complaint and lies to backfire on themselves.
After a negative experience I had with an RV park in Grande Prairie Alberta, I swore I would never NEVER ever use an RV park again. That was about 5 years ago and so far so good! I became an avid boondocker and love it!
RV park owners should seriously consider the impact they cause to themselves with their selfish complaints, especially when they lie and fabricate information in the manner you described.
I live close to Burnaby - I wonder which park it was - maybe I should go overnight close to them!!! No, I wouldn't do that!

So..the warning isn't about Burnaby BC, and it's not about cops...nor is it about RV's overnighting..it's about an unscrupulous park operator. I hope that the OP gives us the needed info...which RV park? and yep, I'd wager that there's a Cariboo in here somewhere.
I Can only think of 1 Park in Burnaby ,so I'm guessing that it's the One near SFU just off the #1 Freeway! The OP is afraid to mention the name in case of a legal assault by the RV Park!
For what It's worth that Park, If It's the one is Overpriced AND Over Rated anyway and I decided Long Ago never to stay there again!

Hello Everybody. Thanks a million for your support. Yes, the majority of you have been correct in the posts. Yes, I was scared to provide a specific name due to possible censure/legal action issues. Yes, many of you have guessed correctly - it's a misspelled four legged animal that lives in northern Canada.
I'll try to monitor and respond to this post as best as I can but there may be some delays - we're still on vacation (...but have now left the lower mainland ).
It irritates me when posters make the topic/title of their post misleading. Your problem is with the RV park which happens to be in Burnaby - NOT the city of Burnaby or 'certain streets in Burnaby'.
I would have been mad if we were accussed of staying overnight for several days when we had not. But, I am more interested in knowing why people overnight for several days on the side of a road BESIDE an RV Park in the first place. Why wouldn't an RV Park complain about that? Sure they got it wrong, but I can see their frustration. It's probably an ongoing problem for them. They are a business after all. But, I would be boycotting the park if they didn't apologize for their mistake and offer some sort of consolation. Did you speak to the manager of the park?

P.S. Don't ever be scared to name names on this forum. You are stating facts of an incident/occurrence and offering your opinion on how you felt about it. There's nothing wrong with that. If there is, boy, I am in trouble!
