Here we go! Finally I'm home on Saturday night and can watch this weeks race. I wish there was a way to mute Kyle Petty without muting all of the commentators. Thank goodness Rusty Wallace is not on this broadcast.

Go Morgan Shepard!

Oh wait, I mean go Jr!

I'll agree with that.
Right now we are watching IRL.

I would rather listen to a driver than a clueless talking head anytime.

I don't find his commentary particularly insightful, way too much fluff and not enough substance. He talks too much and I don't think he really brings much to the table in terms of value-added commentary. For a guy who is currently involved in the sport I expected his technical knowledge to more insightful. While he is a big name in the sport, I get the feeling he is a bit detached from the current movers and shakers in the sport. He seems like a commentator who is on the outside looking in rather than someone who is really in touch with current state of the sport and a true insider. I feel his lack of competitive driving experience results in his contribution in the booth being much less impactful.

Kyle seems like he just shows up for work without doing much if any in the way of pre show preparation like Larry Mcreynolds does. I want to see Kyle do some legwork and get involved with the inner nascar guys like Daryl Waltrip does. For being such a big name in the sport Kyle Petty should have far more insightful comments on the goings on in the garage and on the various teams. Even though Dale Jarret has a plain voice he at least seems to talk to some of the drivers and/or crew chiefs before the race so his commentary is up to date and relevant to the actual race.

I don't think Jr. would make a good announcer as he is not dynamic enough and is a fairly bland speaker. If he was less politically correct and more assertively outspoken about his views on matters he would likely do alright. I think Tony Stewart would be good in the booth as he is outspoken, and I suspect he would do his homework before broadcasts, and he likely knows the right questions to ask the guys that would elicit the most interesting information for the audience.

Ya gotta admit, Kyle's taking the pressure off of Jeff Gordon. Jeff used to be the most hated but now we've got Kyle to hate.

Glad to say good-by to TNT broadcasts. That magic show "saw someone in half" skit during green racing was ridiculous.
I can't believe that the 48 let Kyle Bush out drive him on the last restart.
