My heart is set on getting a great deal, and I may have one. However, a good deal isn't good if you aren't getting value.
Again, not trying to start a bashing, but I would like to hear more specifics, if you don't mind. What is better? Cabinets? Furniture ( I know the FW has Flexsteel and Winnebago doesn't use it any longer I don't believe )? Plumbing or electrical systems?
OK I will give you a few things we had problems with in our FW MH's.
Cabinets would come loose.
Drawer slides beaking.
Complete floor had to be removed as it was not joined correctly.
We used to get dirt sucked up through the floor from outside. (by rear fender well)
You asked I repleyd. Not wanting to make a RV bashing out of this.
Good luck in whatever you purchase.

Gotta laugh at some of the bashing posts. Person may very well had problem with the list he said, but search and every brand has even some expensive DPs, you can be DARN SURE, Winnnie has equal complaints invite you to search and search IRV2.Com as well. Always fun reading when presenting open question like this. Only thing as close it asking the Ford vs Chevy vs Dodge question.
Just coming back from a trip I recommend this which will open your eyes and those who complain. Its called reality!
Go to a camp ground, see whats there. Talk to people and see who's happy.
How can it get any better and more real than that?
Think what you'll find will greatly contradict whats been posted about Fleetwood. Heck last week at Tower Park with high prices and all. Amazed to see how many NEW 07/08 FW MHs in park. Far out numbered Winnie.. Must be a bad product...
Again go out and look at the camp grounds and you'll have no arguement and confusion.. People always remember the rig that had problems but even the best do.. Its part of rving since 70s.
I had a Damon that fell a part. So do I just brand all Damons as garbage like some of the people here do with FW... No, that would be silly!
So head out to the parks and let reality answer your questions..
I would own either but based on your choices presented, would take the DP only because its a DP! Better ride and far more quiet up front.
mcc1229 wrote: What Kind of deal are they giving you on The 2006 Discovery??
About $125,000 for the 2006 with 8000 miles. It is a sweet ride with the basement pullout grill/sink/refrigerator, which would be great for tailgating, which is what I would do the most.
I have owned the Adventurer, not looking to decide between it and the Discovery. I appreciate peoples opinions, but i agree that you can't base your decision on one sample size.
I guess what I was asking was about systems, operation, etc. I enjoyed the Adventurer, but can see a LOT of fun in the Discovery.
Thanks for everyone's input......and the more input I get, the better.

Sounds like a good deal, I paid $134K for an 07' same miles same amenities, last week.
07 Fleetwood Discovery 39S
07 Weekend Warrior SX1800
05 525 EXC
04 LTZ-250 and 04 CRF 230 for the wife, almost quad free!
04 TTR 90
03 XR 80
I think that is a good deal. I have the 2006 39S. We have loved the coach. The C-7 Cat has plenty of power. We tow a Yukon - 4 down, but we are switching to a jeep Liberty (2000 lb less than the Yukon). The CAT is not known for great milage - we hope the lighter Toad helps that. Freightliner is not known for the best ride - but IMHO ride quality does not improve dramaticly until you go to an independant front axle chassis - in Fleetwood that adds about 100K to the cost. (American Coach)
The KVH dish gave us some headaches initally - but a tech advised us to use Direct, get an old D-10 receiver off ebay for $15.00 ( it communicates best witht he KVH) and get all the KVH software upgrades downloaded by a tech. Once we did that it works much better.
I will try and answer any specific questions you have.
Good luck
Any chance you would be more specific about the quality of their work? The couple I have been in seemed to have nice quality cabinets and the craftsmanship seemed good. Did you have problem with electrical? Plumbing? Other systems? Just curious.....thanks
I'll agree in part with some of the others, some things in the Fleetwood are top notch. Like their woodwork regarding cabinets, etc. Overhead cabinets are attached solidly to the overheads, etc. Other areas, for example the outside cabinet doors and seals are crap. On mine most of the seals don't even contact the inner surface when their latched, and I've seen the same thing on some of their diesel models, with the exception of the high-end diesels. They use cheap China made black plastic latches to hold the doors closed. I've had to replace almost everyone of them, some twice. Winnebago also uses plastic for these latches, but at least it's high impact automotive white plastic. Their undercoating is limited and the paint in areas like the water/electric bay is very poor. It takes no-time for the paint to start flaking and rust to build up. The metal wasn't even primered prior to painting. You asked about Plumbing, the water pump hadn't worked correctly since new. I had it back to the dealer three times, they replaced the pump once. Ended up it was because Fleetwood mounted the water pump upside down because of space. It stipulated right on the pump do not mount with the pump in this way. I fixed it myself.
I went through both the Fleetwood factory tour in Riverside, CA and the Winnebago factory tour in Forest City, IA and there's no comparison. Winnebago is years ahead of Fleetwood in process and quality.
