Anyone have a problem with your passenger side mirror? The ones that say "objects are closer than they appear" or something like that. They've been around for years, and on a car I've really never paid them much notice. Don't use them much on a car.

On my van, I can't see out the back well, so I rely on the passenger mirror a great deal. I can't tell how far anything is! Thought I would get used to it, but it hasn't happened.

I suppose the intention of those mirrors is to reduce blind spots. The disadvantage of judging distance far outweighs any blind spot advantage in my opinion. We have little convex mirrors attached that do a fine job of viewing blind spots. I don't want some "funhouse mirror" distorting my view in situations where the blind spot isn't in question.

Does your class B have one of those distorted mirrors on the passenger side? Does it bother you? As my pass mirror has a dented housing, I'm looking for another. I think I'm going replace it with a driver's side mirror, so they'll both be the same.

Mine does, and it bothers the hell out of me.... while I was reading your post the thought occurred to me that maybe a glass replacement place could cut a replacement glass for it that wasn't the distorted piece of junk the stock one is.

My van (Sprinter) came with both regular and wide angle mirrors on both sides. I find them all to be useful but I certainly wouldn't want only a wide angle mirror on the passenger side.

The Sprinters don't use the mirrors that say objects are closer than they appear on the passenger side. We also have the convex mirrors. I watch the convex mirror. If I can see a vehicle in that mirror I know they are too close to move over when passing or trying to move over a lane. When passing I don't move back over until I see that the vehicle is no longer in the convex mirror and after I can see the vehicle in the regular mirror again. It works well that way.

Mine has the stock Dodge van mirror, which is the one I mentioned above, but I added a 5" convex on both sides of the van. I too use those to see what is around me before I move.

The map shows the states my wife and I have driven (or camped) in together.

Here is my Sprinter setup. The lower mirror is standard. The convex upper mirror is also a standard item but I have noticed not all Sprinters got the upper convex mirror.

Is it the same on the right side also. For American made chassis, the right side mirror is the stupid convex type that says "objects may be closer than they appear".

It's still hard for me to judge how far behind me a vehicle is that I just passed.

As it is, I just stay in the left lane until I can see them out the back windows. If I can see them there, I know I can get back in the right lane.

I purchased one of those plastic bulls eye devices that sticks onto your rear window. It gives a wide angle view out the back. It is handy for backing up at times but the best part is for passing. When you can see the front of the vehicle you are passing you know you have passed it. Most RV places have them.
