Just saw this story about a young girl who wanted to help dogs. Cool kid!
Her web site is www.freekibble.com.
"Mimi Ausland, a 12 year old girl from Bend, Oregon, wanted to help feed the hungry dogs at her local animal shelter. "There are 10's of thousands of dogs in animal shelters across the country, all needing to be fed a good meal." Say hello to freekibble.com! And now it's time to feed the cats too!"

we were doing the same thing here takeing in homeless cats till the citys zoneing board closed us down and has been dragging use thru court about it, theres no city shelter here, no low cost nutering or spraying clinics for the people that need it most and we were trying to help the dropped of cats and ferrel cats by feeding ,finding them homes and takeing care of them. we were forced to get rid of them all, we were lucky to find places for most in shelters around the state, it was not a easy task but the city doesnt want to talk about starting one ether, they act like its not happening and the problem will go away by itself ,so many people are looseing there apartments or homes and just dropping them off as they cant take them with them ,its happening all across the country more then ever in the last few years with the prices going higher, some low cost clinics could stop a lot of unwanted animals from being born and adding to the all ready over population problem,we are not allowed to take them in and help them any more by order of the court and we were doing the job they should have been doing in the first place for free.

The town I live near got tired of the stray cats. They paid the cop to trap them and transport them to the nearest vet clinic and have them euthanized. $25.00 each. Some people were shooting them, in town. The mice and rats loved it. The cafe and grocer in town along with several others were feeding them daily and people often adopted one or more. We have one. Now new cats are back. You can't keep a good thing down! We have two grain and storage businesses and the cats provided a good service keeping rodents at bay. Did I say the cats are back!
