On edit: I just noticed that you said it is PULLING fine. Sorry about that. In case you have not guessed, I don't really know that a Palomino Pony is. If this a short trailer it will be very sensitive to any angular movement as the YnotTurbo posted.

The Palomino Pony is the smallest series Palomino makes, so yes, it is quite a small trailer.

I don't think you have any thing to worry about. It is just the sensitivity of your particular setup. I have a 26 ft TT and a crew cab TV that I can backup any where it will fit. But when I tried backing my SIL's PUP towed by a Ford Explorer, it was like I had never tried backing a trailer.

All totally normal. Just part of the deal when backing up. I remember the same thing 25-30 years ago on the farm towing trailers with a tractor. Just the nature of the beast.

There is only one sure fire way to cure your problem.....

Sell the Jeep and trailer..........

Head for Hotel-six..... problem solved!

But really most short trailers are a lot harder to back than a long one.

When you are pulling it's like pulling a rope it follows well

Backing is like trying to push a rope doesn't work as well.

Our 30' TT is much easier to back than our PUP was. The PUP was easier than our shorter utility trailer. If it always turns left when you are backing I bet you are looking over your left shoulder. It is amazing how little movement of the steering wheel it takes to turn the trailer. AND with your short WB TV the problem is exacerbated. Takes practice.
