We just purchased a new GE vacuum at Walmart and it works real good. We just finished cleaning with the built in Dirt Devil and re-vacuumed with the new one and you wouldn't believe the amount of dirt it picked up. We will stash the Dirt Devils hose and attachments and use them for the truck. I posted this in thr Full Timing section as we use the vacuum more than part timers.

Full timers use everything more than part timers! We should post everything here!

Your experience is exactly what we found to be true. The onboard is great for vacuuming the areas around the drivers area and upholstery etc. But to really give the carpet a good cleaning our $45.00 Dirt Devil upright does a much better job. Of course the upright has a beater brush and the onboard doesn't.

I had to add my 2 cents worth here. We searched for a vac for awhile. I insisted on one with a long hose to reach the fabric ceiling. DH really surprised me by blowing the budget and coming home with the new Dyson on the ball. I have to admit we love it since it is so easy to maneuver all over the place and switch from carpet to hard floor. I guess he got sick of my drooling in the aisle at Target. It outcleans my big upright from the house and is so easy to store. If all our duckies fall into line -- I wish -- it should be fulltiming with us next year.
