My family has recently purchased a High Wall PUP. Next weekend is our first trip with a camper that has a bathroom. We've purchased a 28 gallon portable waste tank, but are now trying to figure out how to transport it. We drive a Ford Explorer and I don't like the idea of putting it in the back of the vehicle after its been used.

Any ideas out there as to how to transport it? Its too big to go behind the PG tanks and it obstructs the break lights by the spare tire. Not sure what to do!

Thanks-

Roof rack? Or attach by bungies to the trailer spare tire or up front to the propane tanks. Or rear of your cargo area inside of a tied shut heavy duty trash bag.

You could search this Forum for words like `blue tote' and see the responses already posted.
Keep in mind that water weighs about 8 lbs. per gallon so a 28 gallon tank would weigh __ lbs. (can't do it in my head).
I suggest using it for gray water only.

I guess I misunderstood the question. I thought it was concerning hauling the full tote to the dump station.
Anyway, we only use ours for gray water and store it in the back of our Suburban.

Our goal is to dump it before leaving, so we should always be transporting it empty. I don't forsee us camping at a place without services, so hopefully the weight won't be a problem. I just don't want anything stinky in the back of my Explorer :>

Rinse well. Disinfect with a glug of bleach. Rinse well. Put in bag,and transport in car, but remove from bag and remove cover when you get home.

We simply roll it onto the floor of the PUP. One of the first things out at camp and one of the last things back in when we leave. Gets dumped at the dump station if at all possible before we leave.

This is what I made for my parents Aliner. The boat gas tank serves as a great low profile gray tank with level gauge built in. The wet dirty carpet is rolled up and placed on the bottom. My uncle is in the process of sewing up a nice vinyl cover for the whole thing.

Test fit.

All edges cleaned up and painted.

We roll it onto the floor of the PUP also. We dump it, clean it and let it dry . Although not shown in this picture, just enough room with the table flat on the floor and the fold over galley down !!
