Just thought I would share our latest trip with everyone. I guess I just need to vent a bit. We left Byron, GA (about 15 miles south of Macon, 95 miles south of Atlanta) on Sunday, July 6 enroute to Pigeon Forge, TN. We got as far at just before the Stockbridge/Jonesboro exit and the RV (a 1993 28' AllegroBay) died in the middle lane. I do not recommend driving one without power steering. I wrestled it over and got it stopped. My father in law and I did some test, discovered an old battery, we thought that was the problem. We took the van off the tow dolly and he and DW went and got a new battery. We replaced it and off we went again. We got as far as the Hapeville exit and it died again, tracked it down to a blown ECM-Crank fuse, got on the GPS and found the closest CG was 20 miles away in Austell. We made it there through some of the worst sections of Atlanta that I have ever been in. Let's just say it made me glad to be a deputy with federal law allowing me to carry my duty weapon anywhere I go, and I do. Finally limped in with no lights at 9:30 at night. The alternator wasn't charging the vehicle battery, and the generator wasn't charging the house batteries. Hooked up to shore power and still no charging. We all got a night sleep and located a RV repair shop (J & R RV Repair in Douglasville. They were great and very reasonable.) We managed to get to them, and Rod found the problem almost immediately. When the new converter/inverter was put in, before I bought the RV, the ground wire was not secured, just laid on the inverter. So with every severe bump, the ground wire would bounce and blow the ECM-Crank Fuse. I guess eventually it bounced off and then stopped charging the batteries. Rod secured the groundwire, checked the alternator and got us on the way in under 1 hour. He stopped what he was in the middle of just so we could continue on our vacation when I explained to him we were on vacation. Everyone at J&R was super nice. We got back on the road and made it to Pigeon Forge and had a great vacation... until (of course you all knew there had to be an until) we started home. At some point the generator stopped sending power to the coach, ie no a/c, no tv, no charging of batteries, luckily we weren't too far from home when this happened so we limped on home. The really good news on that end is I crawled under the rv today and found that only a circuit breaker and popped, and easy and free fix. I am through with my rant now. Anyone else need to let off some steam? Feel free to tack on.

Well, my DH and kids broke the couch in our trailer this past trip....they had it unfolded (scissor type), were standing on it (large husband and two kids) looking for pringles chips, and the whole thing collapsed. More of a pain than anything. He rebuilt the whole thing Sunday when we came home, with better quality framing (he insists this shouldnt have happened). It was kind of funny except we could not use the darned thing the whole trip
Oh man, tough breaks. I know the areas you are talking about and I sure wouldn't want to be limping through there with a broken down RV. Glad the real vacation wasn't as stressful, though.

We tent camp, and on this most recent trip this past weekend I got so stinkin frustrated with my 2 kids, ages 7&9. Bickering. Complaining. Whining. Disobedient. Unwilling to help break camp. They've NEVER been this uncooperative on a camping trip!
The weather was terrible...rain that caused us to pack up a day early. I just was in a crummy mood. I told my kids we'd never go camping again.
Now I regret that I said that because I know I was just having a bad few days. Rotten hormones!!!
Ugh we just got back from Fort Wilderness. We left one morning and it stormed while we were away. DH didn't put the awning at enought of a slant. So we get back and the awning is so sagged down and full of water. We knew it was going to burst any minute. DH tried to let one side down and the other side just snapped So the pole hooking it to the TT is broken, the awning is bent and the material is sagged.

One of my favorite things about camping is how well my kids 10, 8 & 7 get along. At home they are at each others throats btu camping they are the best of friends.
