I'll be visiting Buffalo NY in a few weeks. Is it feasible to make a drive to Toronto from there? I was under the impression that it was fairly close and am just looking for some guidance. Is there anything I shouldn't miss while there. We will just have the day.
Thanks,

Figure three hours each way at rush hour, take an hour off if you go at noon or midnight... TO. rush hour starts at 5 am to 10, starts at 3 pm to about 8pm.

Be prepared for aggressive traffic on the stretch between about St Catharines to Hamilton to Toronto. Traffic tends to run at up to 85 - 90 mph in the fast lane, which can be any lane with a hole in it.

If you plan on just visiting Toronto as a tourist, you can adjust the hours of your visit around the rush hour. The actual drive is quite nice along parts of Lake Ontario. The down town of Toronto includes the CN Tower which is worth a visit, the Rogers Center(Baseball)Maple Leaf Gardens( hockey and basketball) and the NHL Hall of fame. Also great food.

Thanks for the traffic report, but we are planning on going on Saturday. And we have all day. So hopefully we can miss the traffic.

If you're driving a car, a good parking area is to take the Jarvis street exit off the Gardiner Expressway, turn north (away from the lake) and there is a large parking garage right there on the left. Best cheapest parking downtown. The best breakfast is to go to the Farmer's Market right on Jarvis st at Front, and get a back bacon sandwich... renowned around the world! It's a world class farmers market, too...

Queen St west of University is where the cool fashionista's hang out, the Hockey Hall of Fame is at Yonge and Front, and a walk up Yonge street past the Eaton's center gets you some excellent shopping and dining opportunities. I had lunch on Yonge st today....

Passports aren't required. But have photo ID and birth certificates and you should be fine.

You might want to consider taking the RV and spending one night outside of Toronto. There are some campgrounds the will have you less than an hour into the city.

Thanks for the info Brian, but we are far from fashionistas! The farmers market sounds good to me though! We are flying to Buffalo. Friend has a meeting there and I'm tagging along on her company's dime, for my airfare and spending money! We thought it would be a good chance to get to Canada, so we have our ID's and birth certificates all ready to go! The chance of me actually needing a passport is probably pretty slim unless I win the lottery any time soon! LOL!
Thanks for the info!
