Gotta agree with Chuck - we were camped next to a 5er who left some huge darned light on ALL NIGHT. It was annoying as all get-out. I don't mind most tacky lights, but when ya go to bed I really appreciate it if you unplug. Not being grumpy, just stating my opinion.

Why would anyone want to burn the running lights? Ive seen it done ,and I dont get it? Why fry the bulbs? I think a nice string of lights across the awning looks nice. I use 20 ft ropelight across the awning and wrap the supports so the kids dont run into them.
When I first saw someone do that I thought it was interesting too, but it's not for me.
While you're at it get a few cement buckets with light bulbs to hang around your site. Last year we had someone camping a few sites down from us that had this combo and lit the whole place up.
You know what would be really cool? Leave your tow vehicle attached, turn its lights on too, and then everyone can pretend you're driving(:

I see people at our campground with the running lights on all the time. Personally I don't think they are that annoying so I really don't see why people complain about them so much.
I will mention that as with the post from dadmomh above, I was also camped next to a 5er with those huge outdoor lights on both sides of the trailer. He left them on all night and lit up everything around him, including the inside of our camper. I noticed the next morning one of our camping neighbors asked him to turn them off before I had a chance.

Wow, you guys must camp in places where if you look out your bunk, you are blinded by the glow of your neighbours' tail lights! At least their awning sticking over your tenting will keep it dry!
We tend to camp in places where you can't directly see your neighbour (provincial & state parks), and for me, at least, it is fun at night to take a stroll around the loops and see what people have set up. I don't go camping to get stressed out over lights, people chatting around a campfire or the occasional kid (or dog) who wanders over to say hi. In all things, let moderation prevail!

I, too, wondered how people got their running lights on, but never really figured it was that important to research or ask. However, I MIGHT do it once or twice - or more to draw attention to my rig if I am expecting friends or family to drop by. Of course, if they see this.... Click on link

WOW Grinch, I think that you should change your name--you sure don't look like you are a grinch with all those lights. Your family and friends must love coming to your trailer, it looks beautiful!!!

Running lights never bothered us, but we don't run ours either. I hate the guy with the spotlights left on all night long. Peronally, I like seeing everyone's funky awning lights, etc. I like to walk the loops at night, too. We usually stay in state parks, where you've got a little privacy as well.
