Hi everyone, live in the Ft Myers area and family taking a vacation starting on the 25th of this month for 10 days. We have two possibilities,
1: take PU and find maybe two (different & fun) campgrounds.
2: Take the van and DRIVE throughout the country and find FUN things to do.
As everyone is hurting at the gas pump, we will just watch out eating out.
Does anyone have any good campgrounds in Florida? Perferrably North Florida?
We have to many options, need some fun and cool places to go with two boys 13 and 12 yrs old.
Thanks in advance!
PS Would like to stay away from amusement parks, and we are also bringing our two mini dogs.

North Florida suggestion -- Anastasia State Park at the beach of St Augustine.

In west central Florida (as Terry said) is Ft DeSoto at St Pete.

Hillsborough State Park near Tampa is cool, too.

We went to FT Myers earlier this year, when the oranges where in blossom. Well Labelle area. But if I was heading to North FLA, I would just go on over to Savanah GA. Nightly ghost walks. And the river walk area.

We stayed @ Grayton Beach SP on the Gulf side last year. Very nice clean small park. We have a PUP too. There's a small lake at the park as well as a pure-white sand beach. They have 'squeaky sand' there.

We're staying at Henderson Beach SP this year. There's the Naval Air Museum at Pensacola that your boys would love. You can check their schedule & go see the Blue Angels practice there & they sign autographs later. Hint: IF you go to the 8:30AM practice, BE SURE to leave in PLENTY of time to get thru Pensacola.

YOu can also drive down to St. Andrews SP & take a boat out to Shell Island for the day. There are lots of things to see/do in FL!
