I just wanted to introduce myself and show off my "new" 16 year old Dutchmen Royal 26 footer. I have been a lurker here for over a year so it's about time.

Wow, it literally looks like it was trapped in a time warp...just like new. Amazing..whats the history of this thing?

It is nearly like new. The owner said that she got it from a friend who had it in a storage building for several years. When I bought it, it had been used by her as a temp home while her house was being built. In December, she moved out of it and used it as a guest house. It hadn't been registered since 2006. I got it for $4000 and the only things I could find wrong in the week that I've had it is the holding tanks were full (they are empty now), the back lights didn't work (fixed with brand new light assemblies for $30), A couple blown bulbs inside (replaced), missing lock assembly from exterior storage door ($10 installed), and the batteries are questionable. The batteries were nearly empty of water so I filled them and charged them. I'll be assessing their condition as I mess around with the TT at my house before I actually take it out somewhere. Everything seems to work. I cleaned the burner and orifice for the fridge today and it fired right up with the electric start. The furnace fired right up too. The A/C blows cold and the electric heater strip in the A/C works as well. The hot water heater will scald the devil. I think the tongue jack gears are pretty worn out so I'll probably be upgrading to an electric jack at some point but my priority list has several items closer to the top. WD hitch, generator, and batteries, not necessarily in that order. I can't wait to get this baby out for a week or two!

Lovely! It is pristine!

Have a good time with your new toy. It's Christmas in July!

I sure wish I could run across a deal like that (not for me, I already have an RV).

Welcome to the forum, and congratulations on finding such a vintage trailer. It really looks nice and at a bargain price.

I suggest you check the age of the tires and their condition. If the tires are over 5 years old, I'd consider replacing them. And, check all the caulking on the roof as it may need some attention. Then, make sure your brakes are in good condition. Flush and sanitize the fresh water tank.

Hope you're on the road soon and enjoying the trailer. I'm sure you'll have a lot of conversations with folks that will be eyeballing your vintage gem.

Congratulations!! It looks great. I want to add my 2 cents about replacing the tires if they are 5+ years. That should be a first on your list. Happy trailering!!

We had almost the same TT. It was a 1993, but ours had a front kitchen with the sofa on the side between the fridge and the bath. It was in great shape when we traded it in February for our new TT.
