Well ak_traveler is on the move once again! This time we are off to Valdez to see if we can't reduce the salmon population a bit!
We are leaving tomorrow night (7/17)and spending one night on the side of the road so we can arrive in Valdez in the morning (7/18)
We will be there for a week or so fishing and checking out some other areas down that way.

Anyone going to be around Valdez with us?

I'm green with envy. We've been up the last two years, but this year we had grandkids graduating, so, no go. Can't wait for next year. Are you just fishing Pinks, or will you hang around for Silvers?

Valdez is a great place. We usually fish Kings and Reds in the Gulkana River before we drop down to Valdez. Have you heard how they were biting at the Richardson Highway Bridge?

Well John, the plan for right now is Pinks, but we do have one more trip planned and it's a toss up between coming back for the Silvers or going to the Palmer Fair.

I guess we'll decide when we see how the fish are biting!

We've been to Valdez several times and it's one of our favorite destinations. Last year we missed it (went to check out Seward instead) so this year we hope to make up for our empty freezer!

Well no promises, but I'll see what I can do. At worse you can come over to our place and we'll dig one out of the freezer for ya! LOL!

We are not going to make it around to Valdez this year. We are going to Hope this weekend. Just going to relax and enjoy the surroundings.

I am currently at Wasilla VFW for a few days. Need the battery charged and new fresh water before more dry camping.

I am thinking about Hope (Porcupine Park) for Sunday. Where are you staying? Any suggestions?

Good luck!! We canned 12 cases of pinks last year. There was so many last year they increased the Valdez limit twice. Pixies off the rocks got us all we needed. Trolling for Silvers is different, but great fun and you can't beat the taste. We shipped 4 boxes home last year and brought 2 freezers down with us. We are still eating it 3 or more times a week. NOTHING BETTER!!!! Bon Appetite, and good luck>
