Well I have learned all that can go wrong in 2 short days.
The most crucial being the dealership insisting they knew which key position was accessory. My tip on this is YES the wheel will turn in the off position without locking......the steering wheel locks 'after' you make your first turn, and if your toad is light you won't feel it. And yes you can tow it that way for miles and still have a dashboard and steering column, albeit a little loose now.
Dealership service dept does not take calls unless your vehicles are physically there, they send you to voice jail and never call back.
I have read and read the Brake Buddy installation manual but what I would like clarification from those of you 'seasoned ones' who can hook up your toad with one hand tied behind your back and blindfolded.
Step # 12 says to hit the test button 5 times to see if it is functioning. I sure don't remember this in my instruction period with service he hit the button only once.
(also states this should also be done when ever you start the toad.)
The way it reads in that step is that you have to hit the button 5 times 'each' time you put it in the toad?

Exactly right. You are depressing the toad brake pedal with each test and this removes any stored vacuum in the vacuum assisted brakes of the toad. It takes multiple depressions to rid it all. You need to do this anytime the toad has been started because the vacuum will automatically build up again when the motor runs. It is also a good test to see how quickly the Brake Buddy can build up pressure after a stop. jmho, lou

Actually, what I do is push the brake pedal down with my foot until I feel resistance on the pedal and the vacuum is gone. In my toad it's about 3 times. I have enough room next to the bb arm to get my toes in there without cramping. Then I give the test button one press to make sure it's working and I'm done.
I have forgotten to purge the vacuum out of the system after running the engine and the bb activated on a hard stop. The tires will lock up but no harm will be done, just alot of screeching noise and embarrassment. (See man with green shirt below

My BB - hit the button ONCE, and the BB functions five times to evacuate any brake pressure in the toad.

Could be a newer or deluxe model. Mine is just about two years old and I don't remember having a choice of models. It works fine when I follow the correct procedures.

Tell us your toad model and year. Someone will know the correct key position.

Just FYI, on the new BB Vantage Select when you first turn it on there is a red light that tells you to bleed the brakes. You push the AutoStart button and it automatically presses your brake 5 times.

yup, As others have posted, mine is two years old and you press the button once, it then activates toad brakes five times. As for the accesory switch, check the owners manual of your dinghy, I too got the wrong info from a salesman at the dealership.
