Looking for campground recommendations for a 30 foot 5er for Las Vegas and Zion National Park.
I heard it can be pretty hot in an RV in Las Vegas whereas the single AC still doesn't cool the RV down enough to be comfortable. True or False.

It all depends on WHEN you're going to Las Vegas. Anytime during the summer is pretty bad with only 1 a/c.
As far as campgrounds in LV, most people like The Oasis or Sam's Town.

Sams Town as all Las Vegas RV sites crowded. Inexpensive and convenient.
Get a nice fan such as vornado helps the air conditioner a whole bunch.

When we went to Zion in April of 2007, and stayed at the Oasis RV park in Las Vegas. It was very clean, quiet and well run. Lots of amenites. The only problem we had was they no longer had their shuttle to the strip. So we took a taxi. You have a TV so that should be a problem for you.
As for Zion, we stayed in Watchman Electric Riverside Campground. It was great. We had a site for a 50 foot RV right on the river. There is a campground just outside the park entrance with hookups. I think it's Zion Canyon RV park. It's within walking distance of the enterance. It seemed OK. We aren't hookup people. We did visit forum member "hotrod4x5" staying there. Perhaps he could tell you more. Also "Huricaner" who lives just out side the of Zion. Zion is a great park with an excellent shuttle system and many paved trails.

We stayed at Zion Canyon RV Park. Both area's are going to be very hot, just watch your power supply while using the AC. Many parks cannot handle the power load when it gets hot. Can cause problems with your appliances. When we were there years ago it was in the triple digits every day and even with the AC it was not enough.

We liked Oasis in Las Vegas and loved Watchman in Zion National Park. The sites are electric only. We had a beautiful, large site right on the river. We walked to the visitors center to catch the shuttle.

Just stayed at Zion Canyon RV Park....nice staff. It was 106 degrees on June 21st and 22nd, and we had both roof A/C's going during daylight hours. No problem with power drop. They set aside a few sites every day for "first come first serve", and that is how we stayed there. Arrived at 10:30am....had to wait until 11:30am (after checkout) and were promptly assigned a spot with shade. Short walking distance to shuttle stop...right in front of RV park. Park was about 90% full.

We stayed at Sam's Town in May . . you can detour local traffic to get there and it is quiter than ones on the strip. Watchman CG in Zion is hot, hot, hot (104 in May). We were assigned a site with absolutely no shade and our A/C struggled. Left early for cooler climate. Snow in Tetons and Yellowstone!

Stayed last fall at Sam's Town in Las Vegas. Nice park, clean restrooms, and laundry. Also have a small pool and hot tub. They have a free shuttle that will take you to the strip or downtown.

Thanks for all the input. I just mailed my reservation to Zion Canyon RV park. They did not take reservations by phone or computer, only mail. Are they behind on technology? Even if they are, they should have taken my reservation over the phone????
As for Las Vegas, its still unknown because we want to be near the strip. How's Circus Circus KOA?
