Hi, Has anyone use a GPS system the one with the back up camera. My husband thinks if he brought this is may help us in backing up our 5th wheel as we are both get stressed when backing into our sites. Thanks If not do you have any suggestions? Thanks again
We each have a cell phone and use those when backing up the fifth wheel...I back up the fifth wheel while wife guides me via the cellphone...another option besides cell phones are the family radios...
We have an AVIC D3 Stereo/Nav unit with a color backup camera with IR. We use the backup camera more while traveling down the highway to see if we can change lanes and how close things are behind us. For backing into a camp site the rear view camera helps but we use two walkie talkies whenever we back up. The DW clears the top and sides of the camper while I backup. Some backup camers also have sound capabilities.
If you decide to get walkie talkies don't get a cheap set. Get ones that have a charger. Motorola makes some good ones and you can purchase them online or at Radio Shack.
Here is a web site for Rearview cameras.

I would recommend not getting a wireless rearview camera because they only transmit a short distance (20 to 25 feet) and get a lot of interference.

I wanted a navagation system that would show low bridges and also support a backup camera. the garmin 7200 supports a backup camera but not the low bridges (it will show truck routes).
Instead, I mounted a Xenarc 8.4 inch touch screen LCD bjust above the radio and hook it up to Street Atlas 2009 on my laptop. It supports 2 backup cameras. I am starting to install them tomorrow.

You can download low clearance Points of Interest (POI) off the internet and load them into your 7200. You can set visual and audible alarms for these as well as lots of other POIs speed zones, WalMarts, etc.

pioneer make one that fist in the dash replacing the radio and you can have radio, ipod connection, dvd, 2 backup cameras one for the truck and one for the trailer, and satalite radio

The Pioneer AVIC D3 is exactly what we have and it is fantastic. Got everything you need in one screen. I installed it myself, not an easy job but doable if you have any knowledge of that sort of thing.

Yes, you can download data to many units to have it sound an alert as you approach a restriction, but I've not figured out a way to make it not route you to that restriction in the first place. On many units, you can set up custom avoid areas, but it's a manual process, and I haven't found a way to download that sort of information. Sure would be nice if you could set it up to never route you through a set of downloaded data points.
But back on topic: While not a 5er, I have a backup camera, and a GPS that allows viewing the backup camera on the screen. It's a Garmin 7200, which has a video input, and an optional cable that you can hook to your reverse lights so that the video input is automatically selected when in reverse. What I've found is that the camera is so useful in so many more situations than reverse, that I have taken the video input off of the GPS, and mounted a second screen next to the GPS that shows the backup camera all of the time.
So in my mind, displaying it on the GPS works, but I would rather have a dedicated full time rear view screen. I see it as being like the inside rear view mirror of your daily driver. Do you only use that mirror while backing up? I don't, I use it all the time!
