Let me start off by saying I am new to the Forum. I have been pulling a TT for years and just a few weeks ago I picked up a 38 ft Cedar Creek. The dealer talked me into a 16K Reese slider because I am using an F250 short bed. I am sure you guessed it I don't like having to get out and slide the hitch. I have made up my mind I am going to go one of three ways idewinder, Superglide or HiJacker. I have been leaning towards the 5thAirBorne Sidewinder so I don't have to drill anymore holes in my bed. Is anyone using one of these and how long have you had it? I have never seen one in person. Does it look safe and look like it will last?

Have no experience with Sidewinder, but do know there was a LOT of discussion on this board about them when they came out.
Suggest you use SEARCH feature.( Search Sidewinder)
Before you give up on the PullRite SuperGlide, I'd do a Google search and get a phone number for them. (Search Pullrite)
You may find that you can install a SuperGlide using either the regular or Super rails WITHOUT any extra holes
Might be worth the cost of the phone call, since I think it's a superb hitch

Our Challenger came with a Sidewinder from the factory. Even though we don't need it (long bed truck), I like. It makes our 5th wheel back just like our TT so I didn’t have to relearn how to back a trailer.

I personaly looked at all my options new pin box, manual slider, auto slider, no slider, my objective was in this order safety, convenance, and how much to SPEND. We are a young family money is tight like it is with everyone. But we went with the superglide and super-rails it was the most money but i have a hitch i can use the rest of my life. If i went with the pinbox and bought a new fifth wheel would it have fit maybe maybe not. just my opinion Happy Camping!

A 38 foot fiver with an F250?
What does that thing weigh?
What is the pin weight going to be?
We have a 31 foot fiver and bet we are pushing the limits.......

Yes 38 ft(4 slides) with a F250...Hitch Weight is 1850, Unloaded Vehicle Weight is 11549, and GVWR is 15000. Yea its a little on the edge.

We have had a sidewinder for about a year. it is nice not to have to worry about tight turns and still not have to get out of the vehicle. since you already have the hitch, it will cost $800 installed instead of $3000 and if you have to be towed, it tows with a normal hitch, no adapters.
It rides great. You have to have it low on the hitch when you attach and have to be reasonable straight.

You could try this for your Reese Hitch. Reese Products Do a product search for part # 30079. It is an electrical lock for the slider that lets you operate it from in the cab of your truck.

I would bet its over the edge sliding down the other side. But to the question at hand, I have the SuperGlide and it is great but I did not have another hitch prior so no extra holes in my bed. Have heard good things about the Sidewinder so it might be your best bet.

Thank you Barry that is the kind of feedback I been looking for.
jtobbe: I did look at that and thought that would solve some of my issues, but the other day I couldn't get the stupid thing to slide without putting down the landing gear and taking some of weight off the hitch. It took me a good 10 minutes to get it to move, did I mention I was sitting in the middle of the road to do all of this. That's when I I decided to make some changes.
