I just got a quote of $850.00 for purchase and installation of a 2nd (bedroom) AC Unit.

Looking for comments on the price - good or bad?

Ducted or none ducted, 13.5 or 15. Wall mounted stat.

Generaly it sounds like a ball park to below average cost. JM2Cents Bill

Usually second A/C's are non-ducted but make sure the price includes a wall
T-stat...

Did you already have the vent prewired for power?

The coach came new prewired and supported for a bedroom AC. The unit's controls, including a thermostat, will be right on the unit. What would a wall thermostat do for us?

Sounds like a good price to me, just paid a little more than that for ours.

That doesn't sound like a bad price to me. My unit was pre-wired and braced from the factory so I bought the a/c unit from camping world (low profile penguin 13.5k) for 500.00 and installed it myself. Pretty easy to do, the hardest thing was getting the unit on top of the coach. Total time was about 1/2 hour job.

We just had a 13.5 Dometic put up front...see if they'll add the heat strip...IMHO, a wall thermostat is not necessary.

A heat strip is like a heating element that warms the air in the a/c, it JUST takes off a chill in the morning's andd that's about it, It is not a heater...

$850 would be about right $600 for a/c and a couple hours for installing @ $100 per hour, shop labor.

If it was me install it your self, it is not that hard, plus you get to know your rv alittle bit better, your unit should be prewired and all you need todo is take out the vent and install the a/c. The only hard thing is getting the a/c up on the roof.

we just had a 2nd A/C installed for $760. However, it was part of the deal for the trailer.
