My bumper rack has pockets for both wheels to set in but the vertical bar meant to tie the top of the wheels made for a flimsy mounting so I built another vertical bumper-bolt-on piece that comes up and holds the top crossbars of the bikes. The combo of wheel and top support is REALLY solid. Anyway, I slid my spare tire to one side and put the bikes on the other side and it all fit on the bumper. Craig

W mounted a 2" receiver on a plate with angle pieces and bolted it to our fifth wheel pin. Works great with our 4 bikes. Not sure how it would work on a short bed. I will try and post picture later.

As the bikes aren't as wide as the camper I don't think that it would be a problem. But we have a longbed bed, so it wasn't even close. As almost all pinbox setups are custom made (there is a Canadian factory made one), they will all be slightly different

After bending my ladder with my 2 mountain bikes I put the ladder rack in the "RECYCLE BIN". Went to Camping World and bought a 2 bike bumper rack that mounts in 2 places on the bumper. This one has 2 brackets on each end for the front & rear tires to slide in for each bicycle. Not sure of the model #. Hope this helps. Steve A. Dagro

Hi everyone and thanks for the advice you have already provided! Great info here.
This is my first since becoming a member - been lurking and learning. We have a Crossroads Cruiser 5er. Going through the same process. We have purchased a bolt on bumper receiver for our bike rack. looked good - used it twice - 1st time- rack scratched the paint on both bikes with all the bouncing. 2nd time tried mounting bikes differntly - The receiver type bike we have creates too much leverage on the bumper - it bounces really bad. So now we have got a ladder rack to try. I have read the reviews and opines and did not really want the ladder rack but did not want to expend the funds for buying a trailer hitch that cost more than the bikes. Last option for me would ne to install a front hitch. IMHO - I would be concerned with the bouncing around of your bikes -even if you have a good receiver hitch.
