Hello everyone, i have a problem with my Suburban water heater(2005). last weekend in preparation for a weekend trip, i plugged the RV into my normal 120V/15 amp receptacle only to run the fridge in preparation, but didn't realize that my water heaters' electric heater switch was on. when i got to the campground and got the RV set up, there was no hot water from the electric setting, but it worked fine on the gas. i feel like i may have burned the heating element up, but am not too sure how to verify that. anyone run into this problem? is the fix as easy as going to camping world and buying replacement parts?
Thanks for any advice you can give.

If tank was dry, you probably burned the element out. Verify that circuit breaker did not trip. if ok, Check continuity on the element.. a good element should read 10 ohms. Replacements are available a CW and are easy to install.

Also check that tiny switch on the actual heater!
The Element is usually less expensive at Lowes or Home Depot Etc. Just remove the Old one "Power Off... Tank drained" then take it along to find a close match!

Probably toasted the element...cuz the gas does not use the electric heating element. Not too nasty to replace...but a pain.

Don't forget the 'tank drained' step in Rob's reply.
