when you're hanging out here that the vast majority of posters are 'weekend warriors' so to speak, and that their concerns are fairly far removed from those of a fulltimer?
I don't mean all the usual questions about basic maintenance and stuff. And I don't mean to belittle the hobby campers - great choice of avocation, more power to 'em. I mean the difference in perceptions about where to do it, how to do it, what it costs, what really matters, what it all means and portends and so forth?
Sometimes I feel like we're just living in two completely different worlds. They dally with the choice and play with spreadsheets, while we're already there. They worry about the future of the nation, while we're still part and parcel of it (not divorced from reality as they seem to imagine). They're sweating a small decision over a purely decorative part or accessory, I'm sweating it because it's a life or death deal or a serious quality of life issue for me now. They get excited when a facility keeps their coach for more than 3 months, when we would freak out at a single extra day...that sort of thing. They think it's like being on eternal vacation, I know it's just a another lifestyle that is filled with it's share of ho-hum days like any other. The moon through a Fan-tastic vent is cool. Maybe. I just think the screen needs cleaning, lol.
I mean, I do remember (fondly!) what it was like when every trip was a major life event and sweating the details was just part of the fun. But it hasn't got much to do with my here and now.
Good lord. I do believe I've finally gone all the way there! Wherever "there" is. I'm finally actually having trouble picturing even being in a stick house, let alone thinking like a stick person. Is there a rite of passage for this? A blood oath? Tattoo? Secret code ring?
Don't know about a decoder ring.... but you do have the knowledge that you are doing, what many only dream of doing. Yes, we will have a different set of priorities, just as married people have a different view of the world than single ones.....parents a different view than non-parents...etc.
It doesn't make either group more important, and I think it's pretty neat that we still have so much in common, and have so much that we can share with each other. Have you ever tried talking with a person without children, about how wonderful or challenging it is? They will look at you with a blank stare.....the same can be said for a full timer talking about the "little things"......which I might look at as a huge thing, or visa versa....
It is an interesting world we live in....lets enjoy it

No, not at all. A vast majority of the posters here are already full-timers. For the ones who aren't they are seeking information, planning and other researching needs or just out of curiosity. What better a place to ask a full-timing question?
The lifestyle as mentioned above is a draw to many just out of curiosity as many only get to dream of such. It always will so you have to expect that. The full-time forum is not just for full-timers, but also those curious, planning and researching the lifestyle. Where would a better place be to go??
Personally I don't see that in as far as the vast majority of the posters here being weekend warriors as such with topics being far removed from full-timing.
Everyone had to start somewhere. Most don't just wake up one day buy an RV and head out. Now I said most. I remember when I got serious about my move to the world of full-timing, I was a s green as the next guy. Where did I go for info? Right here and some of the other forums on RV.net. Without the info I obtained here as a weekend warrior lol, my transition would have been a wee bit tougher.
I haven't met any that started out with all the knowledge and baseline questions???

How does a purely decorative part or accessory become a life or death issue?
Not sure I understand what point you are trying to make, but your post sounds as if you have become bored with the life style and you now just live day to day going about your daily activities in a robotic fashion. Or perhaps you are over-stressed anguishing about every detail of your life.
A wide variety of posters here in both age, and economic situations seem to frequent this site. Personally I just skip posts that I dont have interest in.
Try the Escapees forum if you want a forum that has posters that are more oriented towards full-timing. I find that both forums have information and topics that are interesting and read/post on both frequently.
Your post smacks of an us and them mentality that I find somewhat offensive since we do all have a common interest even if for different reasons. The fact that I am not a full timer does not mean I cannot think in those terms. As a previous poster pointed out it sounds as if you have quit having fun with life, not good.

I see us as having far more in common than not. We have experience and wisdom and they have optimism and a sense of adventure. I learn from them and hopefully I have a suggestion on occasion that can help them.
Serena, since I agree with your post 100%, our voice means little to the ones who do not , nor can comprehend what you are trying to say. Perhaps that is our problem, that we do understand, but cannot communicate it to the others that do not understand the message.
Keep in mind, that if the receiving ear doesnt like the message, attack the messenger!
