We went from a HR Alumascape to our HR class a, and now with the high fuel prices we are REALLY thinking of going back to a 5er. The MH get 7-8 mpg and we got 14-16 mpg towing the 5er behind the Dodge CTD. Now I know that diesel is more $$$ than gas but at twice the milage is a real consideration, and I still have the Dodge.

Sounds like a wise plan. You can get rid of the motorhome payment, registration and insurance cost and save some money there too.

How many miles do you drive the MH a year? Or, how many gallons of gas do you buy a year for the mh? Figuring in the increased mileage for diesel and added cost for diesel, how much money would you save in a year?

Assuming you could get more for you MH than is owed and you save on insurance for the MH, registration cost, etc; what would you really save by getting rid of it.

Just something to think about.

We did it. We also took into consideration that if fuel prices get even higher. We can leave the 5er at one of our CGs we really like and not worry about belts and wires being chewed by critters when you want to move it somewhere else. All we'd have to do is take the Vue and bike up to use it.

Only problem is, you are going to have a hard time selling that thing with the current gas situation!

Must be a small 5ver or you were pulling down hill a lot to get 14-16MPG towing. I think I'll stick to my quiet Duramax and get 11MPG. Steve A. Dagro

My CTD is turned up quite a bit and I run a manual trans, and that was pulling a 12K 5er.

I talked with the dealer that it was purchased from and they dont think that selling it will be a problem for the price I want.
