Going from Houston Tx to Destin Fl. I want a CG for a stopover between Baton Rouge LA and Biloxi MS on Hwy. 12/10 (Avoiding New Orleans). It will be on a Sat. night, and I belong to PA.
Was looking at Bay Hide Away RV Park in Bay St. Louis. MS and Land-o-pines Family CG in Covington LA. I was also looking at Hidden Oaks Family CG in Hammond LA but their website has been corrected and now I can't use PA on the weekends.
I will have 2 kids w/me so swimming pool, etc. is nice. Are there any good state parks available along that route also??
Recommendations on the above parks, anyone? I already checked out rvparkreviews.....

Don't know anything about the park @BayStLouis but unless LandOPines has improved drastically it's a dump. @Livingston is Lakeside RV Resort which would have a pool and easy access. A little park at Pumpkin Center also. The 2 State Parks at Mandeville & Madisonville are nice but you won't get in on a Saturday. You might want to consider Cajun Palms at Breaux Bridge/Henderson, brand new Resort just off of I-10 if your getaway from the Houston area takes longer than expected. I assume that from Magnolia you will take Tx105 to Beaumont rather than anywhere near Houston. Also a couple of little parks at the Canal Rd. exit near Gulfport across the slab from the Flying J and behind the Loves.
Have a nice trip.

We always stay at the Hollywood Casino (used to be called Casino Magic)in Bay St. Louis.
The reason we go is for the gambling. Never have even seen the pool. I think when you use the RV park you can use the shuttle to go over to the hotel pool, but I'm not sure.

If it is just overnight, you probably are looking for a campground near the interstate. Land of Pines is pretty far off I-12. There are state parks near your route which are Tickfaw State Park near Hammond, Riverside near Mandeville, Fountainbleau also near Mandeville and Davis Bayou, a Federal Park near Biloxi, MS. There are several private parks along the way, some right off of the interstate one being near Pumpkin Center another near Hammond, LA.
These parks get really crowded on weekends and you may have trouble getting a space. If you do get in a jam, Camping World is at the Pumpkin Center exit and has camping spaces, I believe. It would be good for an overnighter only as it is in the parking lot.
Have fun!

We usually overnight in Scott, LA at the Lafayette KOA because it's a decent stop and it has our favorite Cajun restaurant -"Fezzo's"- right
down the road.

OH, should have mentioned I have a pop up so I need W/E only. A parking lot (AKA Wally World) also won't do.

I would second Tickfaw State Park. It's just a couple of miles south of I-12, just west of I-55, and has water and electric, plus nice restrooms/showers. I can't remember what we paid last winter, but we stayed one night for either $12 or $16. Well worth the cost - clean, well maintained, very nice. Call and ask the rangers for directions before you exit I-12.

GUESS WHAT!! LA requires a minimum 2-night stay in the SP's for the weekend!! I had decided on Tickfaw and now can't stay there.
(Venting) Sometimes there are just too many restrictions. Guess I'll just end up driving 11 hours straight. UGH!

Don't give up on us yet! This (http://www.tchefunctecampground.com/directions.php) is a little out of the way but isn't too bad. Has a nice little creek to take a dip.

Best bet for overnight would be Lakeside in Livingston,LA. 1 mile off of
I-12. Pool, 17 acre lake. Lots of concrete and little shade. Super clean park. We've stayed there a couple of times just for a quick get away. Tickfaw SP is probably 10 miles off of I-12. Also a small campground in Hammond,LA Used to be a KOA but changed owners recently/ Have to take 1-12 to I-55 South to US 51. Take left @ 1st traffic light, cross over I-55 next to Catfish Charlie's Seafood & Steaks. Hope this helps. Steve A. Dagro
