Whistler truly is a beautiful place!
One suggestion for you is to allow a bit of extra travel time. They are working extensively on the highway and there could be some delays. Relax, enjoy the drive - it is very scenic.

Just don't go now..this coming weekend...there is a HUGE bun fight, rock show happening in Pemberton and traffic will be crazy and camping sites? hahahahahaha....good ruck.....

Ater that....have a grand time. Bring your bikes and cameras.

hint? don't be trying to pull off the road after Horeshoe Bay to get pix of the mountains and water. Do it on your way back.

I'd make a reservation - it will be busy

There is also Nairn Falls just north if you can't get in there. Provincial Park so no hook ups etc. but a pretty place none the less.

Riverside is a great campground close to the Village etc. Bring a bike and if you really want to know why Mountain Bikes were invented go ride down the ski hills. Way cool. Although if you're not used to the extreme you can take a course.

Whistler is a great playground, winter or summer. We get up there several times a year.

There are plenty of beginner runs on the mountain, don't try and scare them off! As for time, anytime in July or Aug is a good time to be up there. Weather is almost always nice and warm, usually mid 80's or hotter in the summer. There are also 3 championship golf courses aroudn too. I'd suggest Chateau or Whistler. Nicholas North is nice, but less enjoyable than the others.

Like Bob said, there is major construction on the highway going up there right now in preparation of 2010, so depending on when you're traveling, plan a bit of extra time.

Most of all, enjoy BC

Clarification: There is a Whistler Campground in the Jasper National Park in the Rocky Mountains of Alberta. However, the initial poster in this thread was referring to the town of Whistler, British Columbia.
