I know this is short notice, but we want to get away from the heat the last week in July and are looking into a possible trip to Northeast Minnesota to see the Lake. Any reviews of State, National Parks or lake side parks in that area? The trip will only be a four day stay. Our 32 foot motorhome does not have a tow, but we will be bringing bicycles. So, we are looking for great scenery, hiking trails, and a water view within walking or a short bicycle trip.
Thanks
PS Maybe you have another great suggestion for a GET AWAY FROM THE HEAT TRIP. Let me know. We have just started planning.
I'm not certain what they have for camping sites, but the Gooseberry falls state park is a must see! Lots of hiking, and sites to see. I haven't been there for many years, but it is awesome. THen you will need to see the Splitrock lighthouse...also very cool!

I would check in during the week, or you may not get a spot on Lake Superior.
Here are 2 campgrounds right on the Lake in Northern MN, north of Duluth, both run by their City but very popular--Two harbors and Grand Marais.
