I have a 2007 Sun Valley. There is a "U" shaped gaucho /sitting area on the left when you go in door. It can be converted into a twin bed by pulling out cushions, etc.
One of the first times we used the trailer one of the steel bracings under the cushion came "unwelded " on one end. We took it and and the dealer fixed. Just after full warranty ended the bracing came undone again and they re-did- they welded rivet back in place.
We used over winter and the brace cam undone AGAIN when we arrived. I did cal dealer about unrelated issue and mentioned. I did not bring in to dealer as it is a huge hassle and middle of winter.
We went camping over weekend ( first time it has been opened since South Carolina) and when I lifted up cushion the side bracing that is screwed into bulkhead where bed is has come away from "wall" the screws are ripped out.
My dealer charges for every little thing. I am not sure how far to push it. The problem started when trailer was 2 months old and has never really been fixed properly- should they fix it?
They are only Fleetwood dealer for literally hundred's of miles.

Thanks! Any thoughts on how to fix so this doesn't keep happening MUCH appreciated.

Can you put a screw in the front (again!) and then cut a 2x4 or 2x2 so it fits tightly and wedge it between the bottom of the frame and the top? Perhaps do it at several points so the wood takes the weight that pushes down from the top? Then do a similar thing back to front under the brace that came loose from the wall. There really is not much to screw into in the wall unless they have put a wooden brace back there. You can drill thru the cross brace to hold the wood in place.
See ya' down the road!

Im confused here i have a 2007 Sun Valley fleetwood popup, i dont think thats a sleeping bed its more of a seat . but then again i can be wrong i dont see how you can make a bed out of it.i have 2 king size beds one at eighter end and the dinette can be turned into a bed by folding the dinette down .The seat for the U shape is rather small maybe for a small child at best, but in my case we never need that u couch except for seating as i never have more then 6 people in mine

You ara able to slide the bottom cushion out and put the cushion behind (back) laying flat and creates a twin bed. It is shorter then most
As it stands now yuo can;t even sit on seating area because it won't support anything.

Does that back cushion have a board in it???? I don't understand how the brace could pop out or bend if there's a piece of plywood on top. My Sun Valley has two sections of plywood that slide over each other when as a cushion, and 2 sections of plywood as a bed - apparently very different from yours.

Hobbystuff i agree with you on that i know you can slide the back out but boy i dont think you can support anyone sleeping ,I do sit on mine when inside but not long.If your using as a bed i would try and get some angle iron and and make a makeshift brace How many people do you try and sleep in the fleetwood lol

The goucho is made to convert to a bed, we do it all the time. If you pull the seat out, it only pulls out so far, and then place the seat back cushion with the hard board back in the bare spot you should have no problem sleeping a healthy sized adult there. The whole perimeter of the framed area and the center brace supports the weight over the empty storage area. The older Sun Valley had a drawer under the goucho and the top had plywood over that area. Now they saved some money and eliminated the drawer and left the space above open for storage.
To reattach the brace I would get a flat head bolt, a nut, a lock washer, and flat washer to replace the pop rivet. The hole the rivet goes through may be over size for the rivet.

When I checked under my dinette seat the cross support had come unstapled.
I cut 3 boards 1 inch thick by 2 inches wide and long enough to fit under the cross support, reaching from cross piece to the floor.
I used L brackets screwed into them before placing under the cross piece then I screwed them into the floor using short screws.
I had to do something similar 20 years ago to shore up the porta-potty storage space people kept sitting on it.

Run a piece of wood from the floor the metal cross piece. Screw the wood into plywood box in a couple places, then put a screw through the top of the metal cross piece into the end of the wood. Maybe have a few more metal cross pieces cut and add them across the other empty areas, too.
I have a Starcraft 13RT, and tore out all the interior cabinets (well not all of it) and noticed some real piece of junk construction in there...I beefed up everything that was obviously questionable. I think ALL makes and models of trailers are like this to one extent or another. Everything is super tight now. No probs.
This is obviously a design flaw, and getting it fixed back to spec is kinda pointless without actually beefing it up yourself afterward...
