Kinda goofy title, but it sounded better than "People who know what their doing vs/ People who don't care"

Let me try to explain: Went camping with some friends and a "friend of a friend" was there with his, relatively, new Wave TT. We were talking about RV stuff and maintenance issues came up. Long story short, he has never flushed his tanks, never repacked his bearings, never sanitized his freshwater tank or ever drained his hot water heater, yadda, yadda. He camps about 6 times a year and the rest of the time his TT just sits.
Here's the rub: He was making fun of me because I do all those lovely little things to keep my TT looking and acting new. He really got heated at me! Geez... He just laughed at my surge protector...

I guess it takes all kinds, but it actually made me pause and think... do I go overboard?

Thanks for the rant! I feel better now! (Off to tinker on the TT!)

You defiantely do not go overboard. Most of us here care about our RV's and want them to look and stay in like new condition. Some people, like you said, just don't care.

Maybe Mommy bought it for him, and/or he was born with a silver spoon in his mouth! I worked and earned everything I own, so I take pride in it! You do too, as do most of us. You'll be able to get a couple of jabs at him when something fails on his rv due to shoddy maintenance as opposed to using proper preventative maintenance!

It's not the number of times you use your rig. It's the number of times you CAN use your rig. He will begin to have trouble with his in due time. May even get sick from his nasty fresh water. And you will be sailin right along, laughing at him for NOT doing anything to his unit. You will get the last laugh.

(Your Labrador must really appreciate having you for their human. )

Some people I know overdo things and some under-do things and some just do things. There is a happy place for me in the middle. Personally, I am in that happy place after the newness wears off and before I just get tired of it all. Now that I think of it, that happened with a second home and an ex-wife as well... LOL.

He can chuckle at you or us all he wants. when he`s broken down on the side of the road due to fried bearings or taking cold showers in the camper due to an inop water heater, then we`ll see who chuckles at who!

I seen a guy broke down at a big gas station once. I felt sorry for him, untill I seen why. his front wheel bearing on the TT was burnt up, (the wheel and drum were not on it). and when I walked further I noticed how dry the WD hitch was, no lube anywhere at all. after I seen that I didn`t feel sorry at all.

It is just like anything else.
Some will go overboard (not saying you do)
Some won't do enough (sounds like this guy)
I learned a long time ago
"you can lead a horse to water but you can't make them drink"
Lately I have even goten tired of leading them to it.
I know it is good to help out the "new" fokes but the "instant experts" can get you quite upset some times.
Its best to just say what you know and let others take it or leave it.
The smart ones will never stop learning.

My last trip out, the family next to me using real plates, forks, cups, frying pans and all. When they finished eating, they just wrapped it all in the table cloth and tossed into dumpster. I noticed they were in a rental MH as well.

Nationality they were not from the US so I figure one of two things. Out of Country and dollar so weak they can afford to do so, or they didn't know how to operate the rental.. Not sure which but not something you see everyday. Shortly after tossing everything, they left.

I have learned to NEVER volunteer advice. Tell someone a known fact and they will often tell you are wrong just because they don't like the information. They don't want to hear anything that might inconvience them and the world works the way they decide to should. Now if someone ask a question then that is another matter, sometimes.

In the first place, my friends do not have friends that do things that way. In the second place, if they did, I would respect their right to be that way, and I wouldn't give it another thought. I've got more important things to do,.....like rigging up a timer valve for filling up my 90 gallon fresh water tank. I hate it when it overflows, and my wife laughs at me.....
I'll show her......
