More and More WalMarts are getting away from letting RV's stat overnight. Our local WalMart in Barstow used to allow overnighters, but they were limited in parking space, so they stopped it. First one I saw that would not allow was in the south entrance to St George, Utah off I-15. Now I see it happening everywhere. And in Las Vegas, Nev I don't even shop in their stores, since they are being picketed by union employees, and I don't cross picket lines. Even though I was management, I still respect union employee's.

Wow, my desire to not extend our slides was an fyi share only! I think it's a good idea, if one wishes to extend their slides, to extend over grass if available. I choose not to extend my slides to eliminate the possibility of someone sideswiping the extended slide.
As you see no problem with folks extending their slides over grass, you should have no problem with me keeping mine in! It's a precaution I take for myself.

Talk about jumping the gun.
Wal-Mart had no say in the matter.
The same has ocurred here in Hamburg, NY where they have already started clearing the land for our new Super Wal-Mart. Even before they put a shovel in the ground, the town imposed an ordinance that there will be no RV parking on the site of the new Wal-Mart. The current Wal-Mart here, aprroximately 5 miles away from the new site, is still allowed to permit RV parking. However, that store will be closed upon the opening of the new Super Wal-Mart.
This is a result of the typical actions of the Anti-WalMart idiots who tried to shut down the project with several attempted law suits at every turn. Needless to say they failed, but their antics did delay the project for almost two years. The anti-RV ordinance probably gave them a false sense of accomplishment and something to pat-themselves-on-the-back about.
How do you shop if you can't park? I pull into WM's while travelling to shop, take a break, and relax/rest. If I can't park, then what am I to do, call the local campground and ask if I may "park" there while I shop WM's?
mombum on a thread long ago it was like parking for more than three, etc hours I think. If cities let truckers sleep overnight in parking lots they will be sued if they will not let the RV driver sleep a parking lot within the city.
Actually I doubt we will be in an area where staying at WM will be an issue. Of the interstate there is one every 20 miles and near most interstate exits as close as any CG.

Wal-Mart will not say anything to you if you park your motorhome to go in and shop. But there is a difference on shopping time and staying all night. If they have the room I don't think they would say anything, but when they are limited in space, you really can't blame any business for wantine RV's or truckers out of the way.
I guess you could look at this in all different way's, good or bad & I have enjoyed reading all the post, but in my travel's to a race or comming home from a race event & I'm half asleep on the road at night, if I find a WM to park in to keep from killing myself, the rest of my family or someone else on the road then thats what I'm going to do.
Last time I checked my weight I dressed out around 250lbs & when I'm in that sleepy of a condition it probably would'nt be a good idea to come telling me where & can't park.
It realy is true parking at WalMarts not free, how on earth you going to stop, park & not end up going in & buying something.

Sure I've seen slides extended (I do it myself when parked at a WalMart), but in five years I have NEVER EVER seen: an awning out, a BBQ out, lawn chairs out, carpet out nor anyone parking for extended periods of time.
Until I see a real picture of any of the above - it just a urban legend as for as I am concerned.
You would think if this is so common, that I would have seen this happening a least once in the last five years.

Yup, just an urban legend...
I HAVE SEEN PARK FOR OVER A WEEK.
I saw this coach parked at our local WalMart for over a week. I have lunch every so often with a local law enforceman and I mentioned it to him. I was concerned that maybe somebody was dead inside the coach. He checked into it and found out they had left the coach at WalMart and had taken off on the toad to visit relatives up in the San Diego area. They didn't want to drive the coach on the heavy traffic. But situations like that is what ruins it for everyone.

When has Walmart stated the there is a code of conduct? I have never heard of one . Basic standards would apply but moving out a slide a bit to get around bed is a stated no no by Walmart?
