Just replaced my Onan 7kw engine with a new one at less than 900 hrs guess got a bad one. Tech told me to run it alot, also, its a good idea to place a mat or board underneath to keep it from sucking sand and junk into gen.

An old piece of carpet will also aborb a lot of sound. My meter registers the most noise coming from underneath.

Just returned from the full generator lot at the St Paul FMCA rally where we were in 85 plus weather. We ran sat through Thursday with very few down periods. AHH ...the smell of diesel fuel in the evening.
Never again. It will be the electric lot for me.

For LSU tailgating I run from Thursday evening until Sunday evening when I get home. I change oil and filter every three home games. To answer the question about quiet times at these events, there ain't no quiet in or around tiger stadium in Baton Rouge LA on the weekend of an LSU game.

How does a football game become a 4 day event? Is there other activities during this time, or is it just 3 days of camping and then the game? I spent 5 days at a NASCAR race, but there were 3 races and qualifying too.
Not knocking it, just wondering what the situation is. I can relate to people wanting to make a long extended fun weekend out of one game.

You'd have to attend an LSU Football Game to understand. It is an entire event, not just a college ball game. The fans are devout! It starts on Tuesday and Wednesday with the Big Rigs and tail-gaters coming in. There are parks, lots and designated areas in and around the college for us, and we pack every square inch available.
The noise inside the stadium gets so loud during a game that it registers on seismographs - no kidding! This is an exciting event!
When you walk thru the lots and tailgating areas, you can smell the most delicious aromas of food cooking 24 hours a day.
Each game rivals Mardi Gras. If you haven't been there, you cannot imagine it. Good, no, Great Time! Nobody cares about some little generator running!

That's the SEC. That is how it's done down here. Try it, you'll like it.

JD Ain't that the truth. Tailgating is what makes college football in the south so much fun. Friends, food, drinks and some football. That's what it's all about!

Sounds like a lot of fun. You probably can't do that here in Kalifornia.
