I have a quick question for anyone that might know. I have a 93 Bounder 34J. It has a Onon 7000 GENSET. was this stock on the bounder or was it an upgrade or something aftermarket.

The reason I ask is that my plug in power is all set up for 30amp power, therefore I can only run one Roof A/C unit at a time when plugged in. there is a switch for front and rear for the A/C units. there is one roof air in the bed room and one in the living room but while plugged into 30 amps I can only run one at a time. but what I found out is that I can run both units when not plugged in and running the genny.

Is this the norm or what. this is my first RV so everything is a learning experience.

my onon says it puts out 56.7 amps so it has no problem running both A/c units

thanks in advance for the info.

It's normal, and you probably have the original generator.

My 1988 Winnebago works the same way.

Think of the motorhome as having two AC circuits. When not connected to shore power, the generator supplies power to both circuits, one connected to each A/C unit.

30 Amp shore power only has enough power to supply one of the two circuits. The switch allows you to select which one runs under shore power.

If you had 50 amp shore power capability, that would power both circuits, allowing both A/C to run from shore power. The newer and high-end RVs work that way.

My '92 Pace Arrow (same manufacturer) is the same. When on Genny, either switch position will run both at once.

My 95 will run one air while on shore power, but will run both at the same time while on genny. My front/rear a/c switch has to be in the front position to run both while on genny.

OK welll thanks much, but here is another question

Is there a way to mod. the bounder to have say two plugs for shore power so that then you can run both when plugged in?

Yes. The wireing can be modified to run both AC's. There is akit to do this, or you can get and eletrician to wire it. You will need to use and extra power cord. Works great on hot day's.

Hello........the reason that you can only run one air conditioner when the motorhome is plugged in is because it is only 30 amp. When you run the generator it is running at 50 amps and you can run both air conditioners. I have a 92 diesel bounder 35J and it was the same way. I upgraded my motorhome shore power to 50 amp to be able to run both airs.......however if you are only plugged into a 30 amp service this will not work. The campsite has to offer 50 amp service and you have to be able to accept that with your plug in. This required me to upgrade the wiring from the shorepower line to the converter as it is already capable of handling 50 amp because of the generator running at that amperage. My generator is diesel and is a 7500W/7.5KW.
Hope this helps you.
