I am thinking that if I write this down it might help with the frustration. You know what they say about planning-----------My DW and I have been planning on fifth wheeling for some time now, and we thought we had everything figured out, but S@#*% happens. I retired last September with plans of buying our TV when the lease expired on the vehicle I was driving. Well I had to turn it in on June 20, so I went down and ordered the TV that we wanted in April. Well, because of the axle factory strike, the build on the truck has been postponed until the middle of August. We have plans and reservations to be on vacation the last week of August and the first week of September, so I will not be able to pick the truck up until the second week in September, which would be alright except I happen to run across the exact fiver we are looking for and I made what I thought was a ridiculous offer, but the salesman said since RV business is really down he felt that we could be real close on a price. If my luck holds out the trailer will not be there when we get back or something will happen and the price will go up! Ohhh well, you know what, I do not feel any better about the situation, but the poor poor me thing helps.

I had two different dealers check within a 500 mile radius and no luck. I do not mind waiting, it is that if I was ready to buy the fiver, the deal I found would probably not be as good. I really hate taking advantage of someone else's misfortune. Don't mind me, I am just rambling to make myself feel better.lol

Couldn't you close the deal on the 5er and then pay a small hold fee to the dealer until you picked it up?

Buy the 5er and hire a delivery outfit. They're all over, and the dealer probably has a few he regularly contracts with. Don't know about Big Texas, but you can hire a 100-mile haul for $350 in Jersey.

That's what I did on my last purchase. They agreed to hold it for two weeks for free. Or, you could probably find out if one of the employees of the dealership has a suitable TV, and hire him to tow it to your storage location until your truck comes in. I wouldn't let a good deal get away without a fight!

Or go ahead and get the 5ver, have the dealer or a contract hauler to move it to your place that way you can have it all packed and ready to go when the truck comes in.

Why not pay to have the 5th wheel delivered to a campsite. If the dealership can't help you out then advertise. Find a Campground that you like - pay for a month. And start enjoying your 2nd home.
Are you fulltiming ? If yes, could you not have the 5th wheel delivered to your house ? And start packing.

I would start looking at fairly local campgrounds. We found the perfect 5'er on the way home from a weekend away. Dealer agreed to hold it until we could pick it up. I found a truck, and a seasonal campsite about 45 minutes from home. Dealer then recommended a professional transport. Had no end of trouble with truck, even before hitch went in. I got rid of the truck, kept the seasonal site. Even traded in on bigger 5th wheel, which has acted as a great second home. Not how I planned it, but worked out great. Good Luck

That's what I was thinking, and the dealer might do it for free or real cheap as part of the deal. If you stay in it you will find any problems. Keep a list, get anything fixed before you leave. If you plan it right everything might actually work out for the better.
