No such thing as OLD gas in my Jeep or M/H.
Both engines use it almost as fast as I pump it in

I just don't think it's worth trying it and having to clean-out the system and pump it out if it didn't work.Man, 7 yrs. is a long time, got to smell like varnish by now!

In about 1947 my father ran low on gas while visiting my uncle (his brother-in-law). Uncle George said "wait a minute, I have some old gas, purchased and stored before the war (1941 to 1945) which you can use". Dad did, it got him home, but in the morning the Chevy wouldn't start. I lifted the OHV cover, and the valves which were open stayed open, and the closed ones bent the push rods when trying to open. It cost him a tow job and a valve job. DON'T USE OLD GAS!

I was talking with a friend last night and we are wondering about using old gas from his boat.
Because of health problems he has not been able to take the boat out for about 6 or 7 years. I know gas turn into a varnish like liquid over time but he has about 120 gallons in the boat and with todays prices it would be nice to be able to use it.
Is there something that can be added to bring it back? Octane booster maybe?
Thanks for any info you may have on this, he really could use this fuel if it is usable.

Thanks,
Roy

How do you know you have to "bring it back.?"

I'd try Pri-G fuel treatment. I buy it from here:

Doing a Internet search on this product, I found reports of over ten year old fuel being restored by this product. I use it in my motorhome on one year old fuel and it works great.

I think RealtyRoy and Argynon ought to get together with the Pri-G Fuel Treatment. Sound like a real deal with gas being over $4.00 a gallon and only $14.00 to make it good.

I'm curious how much has evaporated.

And how much moisture has gotten into it.

Let us know what happens.

The owners manual for my lawn mower says to drain the old gas and dump it in an automobile. If it were me I'd try it in a lawn mower first. If it starts, then I'd at least try it 50 OLD-50 NEW in my car. At $4.50 per gallon, I don't think I'd burn it.
By the way, you didn't say if the boat starts with the old fuel. Does it?

Two things I'd do:

1. Check to see how much volume has been lost in the 120 gallons. If a lot, then forget it. Use it to start a big fire and have fun. If virtually nothing, then use it in the lawn mower, a cheap one only.

2. Not ever under any circumstances stick it in my expensive modern car, truck, RV, or even a 4 wheeler. Just not worth risking expensive equipment over a couple of bucks worth of old gas.

It would probably work ok in a 2 stroke but even then I'd be careful.

Old gas in a modern engine would be trouble. Hey, but it's your engine. Do as you please...
