I have a Acer travelmate 4200 vista operating system. I want to watch live tv on my computer. I only have a tv antenna on our class c. I don't want to pay alot of money. I am currently living in the usa and will be moving to canada in 4 months.

What does anyone suggest would be the best. How about those software downloads for one payment of $35-50? Do they work? Any info would be great thanks.

Oh, and while on the tv topic does anyone know if Canada is changing to all digital? Do I need to do anything to get tv there?

thanks

I use a $69 USB Pinnacle TV-Tuner stick that I bought at circuit city, it works great.

Stay away form those PC-TV programs, unless you wish to read sub titles. I found them to be a waste of time. You also need high speed Internet. There are thousands of different shows as promised. Church bible schools, in Hindu, Spanish, and two hundred other nationalities. Of course the Police Crime Channel was always nice but I never quite got into the Philippine Languish.

One channel did have a nice view of cars going over a bridge somewhere in CA. Guess that was one of the few American channels. There is a great Chinese channel with American subtitles, good movies, there actors can jump 200 feet in a single bound. JMHO Bill

RE internet tv ....35-50bucks and many programs are foreign and junk you wont watch mostly stuff avail for free on the internet if you know where to look. ... buy a Hauppage or pinnacle TV card (usb tuner with antenna connector on a usb stick) .. plug in your Rv antenna or rabbit ears and get OTA television free. Many other Tv solutions but you asked about tv on your laptop.

You can just download the TV show you want and watch it when you please. Some are pay (iTunes) and some shows make their episodes available for free. There's no TV show out there you can't watch.

If you have cable or satellite TV at home, you can get a Slingbox for ~$100 and have the same programming on the computer that you have at home. You will need a high speed (>1 Mbps)connection for reliable service. It is easy to install and setup and if you have TiVo or a DVR/PVR at home, it can even be set up to watch live or recorded TV.

A TV card is also a good choice, but you are limited to over-the-air or cable programming available in your area.

All I've used is the free TV program part of this site and it worked nicely.

It is not live, but it is current with more choices than I get with the local stations at the CG.

Free TV, pay movies, ipod upload etc.

Also, USA network has a few of their series avail on their site for watching whenever you want. New show Burn Notice is pretty good.
