If anyone knows anybody that has a 2008 Jayco JayFeather inform them to check the clearance between the top of their tire and the wheel well. If it's not at least 3" they should contact their dealer and insist that the dealer contact Jayco. In my conversations with Jayco, they think that they have identified all of the units that may have the problem. I think that it is possible for them to have missed one or more units. Let's help our fellow RVers out.

Jayco fixed mine asap once I notified them of the problem. I called them, they said get it to my dealer for measurements and pictures. I took it a couple of days later and the next day dealer called said Jayco was sending new axles. Two weeks later they called said axles were in to bring it in. I took it in on Friday morning and had it back with new axles that afternoon. Before it had 1 1/2 inches clearance and after it has 3 1/2 inches. Looks better now and no more rubbing going over dips or driveways. I saw the axle assemblies before install they were complete with new brakes. One small thing is that the step is now 2" higher. Jayco was great to deal we've had our 11 months. Picture in signature is before new axles.

Thanks to all the posts about the axle problem and my finding this site. We are new Jayco owners. However, our TT is still at the dealer in MI. I e-mailed the sales rep who handed the problem over to their warranty person. The call was made to both Jayco and Dexter. Now just waiting for the call back from the dealer. Hopefully the swap can be done before we pick it up.

We plan on picking it up in mid-August then heading out to a East Coast tour. We can't wait!

We are also brand new Jayco owners of a new leftover 07 Jayfeather 30R, mine appears to have at least 6 " of clearance. Was this only on the 08 models?

Glad I saw this post, we have a 2008 Jay Feather 25F. I just went out and checked and we only have about an inch of clearance, and there are already black marks inside the wheelwell where the tires have rubbed, especially the two front tires. I have not been contacted by Jayco or our dealer, so don't assume that they know exactly which TTs were affected. Guess I'm calling my dealer tomorrow...

I received a call from my dealer on Friday and was told tht my new axles will not ship fom Jayco until Aug. 7th rather than the dealer receiving them last Friday. Jayco stated that I could go on short trips not longer than 300 miles. We decided to cancel the two trips we had planned this weekend and next weekend rather than taking the chance of losing a tire or two even thought they were short trips.

Dealer stated that Jayco said they have a larger issue than they had originally thought on the number of trailers affected.

Those of you that are currently having the problems. When we had the problem and Jayco fixed it earlier this year, we were told the following: 1)Jayco doesn't stock axles. They only have enough to install on the type of trailer that is currently in production. So they have to order from Dexter. 2) Dexter also doesn't keep a particular axle in stock so they have to setup a production run to assemble that particular axle and ship it to the dealer (Jayco saves time to have the part shipped form Dexter). As I have said before, it took about 2 months for us to get our 31E fixed and that included troubleshooting time at Jayco. I know when you are having to cancel trips (we canceled 3 ourselves) it is frustating. We've been out three times since ours was fixed and have had no issues with the axles.

Jayco has stood behind their product and I salute them for it.

When Jayco fixed mine they had the axles shipped directly from Dexter. Service was quick. Jayco knows they have had a problem and is quick to respond. I emailed and called Jayco direct before contacting dealer.
