Hello again! I hope you are all enjoying your summer! I certainly love life in the campground! Anyway, here is my question...I am looking to install one of those electric fireplace inserts in my TT. Can anyone give me some tips or advice on purchasing a good brand. We are also looking for something to throw off a little heat during those cool winter evenings. Planning on going full time in the next few months and making some mods in TT before doing so.
Thanks again for all your help!

Why do you want to install a fireplace in your TT?
If you have a fireplace why do you need supplement heat?

We got ours at Menards... It came with an Oak Mantle but I sold that on Craigs List... Ours also heats and does a fine job of keeping the TT warm on cool evenings...
I installed mine in the entertainment center below the TV... I removed the double doors and added shims where needed... I then covered the wood with woodgrained vinyl I bought at my dealer...
I then added a door at the back side of the cabinet where I removed the double doors so I didn't lose all my storage in the cabinet as the fireplace is pretty shallow in depth...

I think the fireplaces look cheap and are a complete waste of money and space. You can get just as much heat from a 1,500 watt cube heater for a fraction of the space and cost. As a plus should the cube heater go bad another 20 bucks at wal mart will get you a new one.
2003 Jayco 308fbs eagle 33' tt, towed by a 2003 Ram 3500 slt, quad cab dually, cummins diesel ho, trailer towing package, with 6 speed manual. Hauls better 1/2, 3 kids, myself, and a 2003 ez go clays car.. I have added so far, neon lights, clearance lights, back up lights, black light, lift kit, mud tires, and everything necessary to make the golf cart street legal. It's now ready to spend the winter in the garage for more mods. More neon, strobe lights, alarm, a pa system, maintance, and whatever else that comes along. This golf cart does wheelies and travels thru 7 inches of mud when need be. Two honda eu2000i gens twinned to supply the electrical power. Latest addition an 04 Honda Goldwing. I have an electric fireplace in my house and they're not cheap looking. The warm feeling you get with it and Christmas last year we could hang our stockings from the fireplace. Also heats the room so we didn't have to turn on the big electric furnace. No work too.
Yes you could get heat a fraction of the cost but there's nothing like the mood of a fireplace. My next whatever will definitely have a fireplace in it.

just buy a $5.95 fireplace DVD at WalMart and a $15.00 ceramic cube heater. it will take up less space, do the same job, and save you money. and as a bonus, the DVD will play carols at Christmas.
