Which do you prefer when getting from point A to point B? Hitting the interstate highways or taking the State Road 2 or 4 lane roads or even the smaller back roads, depending of course on the size of your rig.

Depends on just where Im going and how soon I wish to get there.. Normally on vacations we travel the intersate highways. Much easier and I NEVER have the chance of rounding some blind turn and finding "Granpa" putting down the road on his 8N Ford tractor hauling hay at 8 MPH!

I generally prefer the state roads for less traffic but sure do like the wide lanes on the interstates.

For the most part, we try to drive the motor home the shortest practical distance from point A to point B, then use the toad to drive around point B for a while. Unless the interstates are more than a couple gallons of fuel longer, we'll usually go that route - more cruise control, less tiring.

I avoid all the interstates I can. I don't like the continuous string of traffic going around me. As long as the road is paved I'll drive on it.

Prior to my retirement...we were about 80% interstate and 20% state/local roadway. Now that we have more time, the requirement to "get there today!" has lessened. We plan longer trips with unplanned/uncommitted days to allow us to roam. Interstates get you there directly...but having done Rt95 from northern VA to FL about 25 times over the years, we enjoy getting off and moseying along several nice state routes, such as RT301. Some of our best RV memories we found by happenstance...were more like 60% interstate and 40% local now. Major state highways we have found to me well maintained, well signed, and the slower pace and lighter traffic flow makes driving more relaxing.

Last year we took the Coast Hwys. from Florida all the way to Bar Harbor Maine including the inland ferries. That was the most enjoyable, scenic trip we have ever taken. You will see things on the State Hwys that you forgot even existed except on the Travel Channel. Our trips are always planned along the "scenic route" and the 2 and 4 lane Hwy's connecting them. I will take the Interstates when there is no other route to get to point "B" but once a nice Highway shows on the map, we are on it.

Dont forget the US highways. They are generally well maintained, divided roadways, carrying less frantic traffic, and some may see the occassional slow down to pass thru a town as a plus...j...

Depends on how big a hurry I'm in

Inerstates you can drive for hours without ever seeing a stop sign or red light, however there is not always much in the way of "Scenery"

State roads you may have to stop from time to time, but you are likely to find more interesting places to stop at.
