Is there such a place? My parents are talking about getting the family (about 10 people max) together sometime this fall to celebrate their anniversary. They are used to at least 4-star hotels or inns, but we'd like to tie it in with a camping trip, so would need someplace that also offered campsites with hookups, or a place (parking lot ok) to store a large TT while staying at the resort. Anyone know of such a place (or several such places) that we could check out? Activities appealing to young adults - a pool or nice game room, riding, basketball/volleyball court, etc. - would be a plus.

I can't think of any resorts that also offer RV sites.

The Hyatt Hill Country Resort is located in San Antonio and Admiralty RV Resort is located close by (mile and a half).

I think the fact that your parents are used to 4 star resorts is the main stumbling block.

There is a cute little place on Lake Brownwood that also has RV sites. It's Mountain View Lodge and Marina

I will keep thinking

Did you want to camp while everyone stays at the resort or just park the TT?

On Edit: Also, there is a very nice resort, Hyatt Lost Pines Resort , and is located near Bastrop, Texas, which is east of Austin. A rural area and I am thinking they may have a large parking lot.

I just checked the parking lot on MSN Live Search maps and yes, it is large and it looks like you could park your TT there. It is a very secure location.

The Buckhorn Lake Resort in Kerrville has cottages and RV sights. Google it! Personally, I would not vacation in the Hill Country. It is hot, dry and just plain old rocky ground. Central Texas, east of Austin is a lot nicer! You may want to look at the Hyatt Lost Pines Resort. It has a first rate golf course and is close to a number of state parks.

Thanks! Those look workable, especially the Hyatts. Folks are getting pretty elderly, so are past the cabin stage, I'm afraid. Would October be a decent timeframe for this? That's what they're talking about, though of course spring in the hill country is probably the best time of the year, from what I've heard.

Camping while there would be a plus for us, but isn't necessary. Camping on the way there & back would be most desirable!

October in Central/Hill Country Texas is very nice. The Hyatt is a first class resort.

I have heard good things about Buckhorn althought I have not personally stayed there. Kerrville is a neat community nesled on the river banks.

Close to Austin is Canyon of Eagles (close in Texas terms)

October is a good month for weather in Texas, no hot weather, state fair is going on in big D in parts of October (ends Oct.19)

Canyon Lake Yogi

Motel rooms, cottages, two pools (indoor and outdoor; the indoor has a 12 years and older spa). Great stuff for kids to do, very clean, friendly folks, nicely between Austin and San Antonio; tubing on the river, close to Schlittebahn..... etc etc etc.

One of our favorite parks during the winter. Haven't been in the summer, so don't know how that would be.

Have a great time!

Another vote for Buckhorn. Very nice place with all the amenities; basketball/tennis court, family pool as well as adults only pool with hot tubs too. The sites are all concrete with nice sized concrete patios and able to handle the big rigs or anything in between. They have a room available that would accommodate an anniversary get-together quite well. Also have outside storage in a lot adjacent to the park.
The weather in the Hill Country in the fall is pleasant.
