Right here! This is a temporary drop in price. Sometimes I think it is just so we won't be so peeved when profit reports come out this week for the 2nd Qtr.

How many of you have seen a drop of 15% yet? That would take the $4 per gallon down to $3.40. Any of you seen a drop of 60 cents yet? Nope, I didn't think so. However, three weeks ago oil went from $140 to $146 (4%), and our local prices jumped from $3.81 to $3.97 (4%). I don't see why it takes so long for it to drop when oil drops! Happens every time....
Here. when oil was at $146.00 a barrel. We got it for 3.89. Now that oil is around $125.00. the same station is selling it for 3.93?????? What's up with that???
The market is a delayed mechanism. The market price for oil today is for next month.
But only in one direction. When oil goes up today, the little man with a ladder goes out and changes the price on the sign the NEXT DAY!

Gas here was pushing $5.00 a gallon not too long ago. It’s getting down closer to $4.00 now. I’d sure like to see it in the $2 to $3 range again. That will certainly increase the distances of my destinations.

My theory:
Prices go up immediately because the seller starts charging in relationship to the replacement cost. Prices go down later because the seller keeps his price in relationship to what he paid.
Folks, the problem is not always completely the fault of the refineries. If you look really hard at the pricing structures, the refineries generally make between 9 and 12% profit. Our "Gubment" adds more that in taxes.

I agree but they will wait as long as possible before they lower the price to the cost of the new product in the ground. Especially if there is no competition !

That would raise the Fed. tax on gas to $.28.4 and diesel to $.34.4 a gallon.
Of course - we ( consumers ) reduce demand ( what we've been beat up to do ) so tax revenues go down ( reaction is to raise taxes - as always ) - profits go down ( reaction is to raise prices - as always ) - anyone recognize which end of the stick we are on???
My problem is alternative solutions have been out there but no delivery, development or distribution efforts have ever been made - yet we are the bad guys for so much reliance on fossil fuels - give me an option, I'll use it!! - no fingers pointing back to big oil or big Gov. Given time, I believe the past 4 years and what has gone on are going to make the '20's Teapot Dome incident look like a child's birthday party.

$3.87 is the cheapest here for gas. How about propane? $2.99-$3.14/gal here.
