Just upgraded my TV from half ton to 3/4 ton. I would like to tow with in the next two weeks. Would it be wise?, considering I will not have the recomended 500 mile break-in.
Thanks,
Jason

The 500mile break in period is for the gears. IMO it's important. You have two weeks. Take it out for a Sunday drive.

You'd better start driving.
I was a hundred and fifty miles short on the day I was scheduled to pick my trailer up. I did laps around the 210/10/60 until I hit 500.

If you have a couple weeks, take some day trips, and drive the long way to work. It won't take long - just feels that way.

You're actually better off doing your break-in in traffic or on local roads than on the freeway, due to the constant rpm of freeway driving. During break-in you should be varying the rpm and not doing hard accleration or towing.

I don't worry about break in. Run it the way you plan on using it from day one. The break in warnings are only for the protection of the manufacturer.
There is a myth that metal components have to wear into each other. It is BS. Metal can NEVER touch metal! If your bearings or whatever ever touch metal to metal they are instantly destroyed. All components are protected with a film of lubricant between surfaces. They NEVER actually touch.

I got my new TV to 500 miles before towing. Just doesn't seem to be that big of an inconvenience to follow manufacturer's recommendation.
If you were on the east coast, I'd offer to put 500 miles on it for you, as long as you buy the fuel. I'm just that kind of a giving person...

Jason, you obviously will do whatever you think is appropriate, but the advice you should follow is the experts, not someone who just has an opinion, and a wrong one at that. Who are the experts? The people who designed and built yur truck, and their advice can be found in the owner's manual. You should follow it exactly.
